Hi ladies,

I'm going in the 18th for my section. I had my first by emergency. Doctor claimed his cord was wrapped around his arm and that was causing his heartrate to go up. I'm still iffy about that. This time around I was going to try a vabc but when i sat down and thought about it my hubby and I decided that a repeat was the way we were going.

I am so nervous, I can't wait for it to be friday. This pregnancy has been kinda yucky. I had morning sickness like I did with my first, but I lost 10 lbs this time due to it. The last month and a half I've been having tons of pressure and pain. I went in last friday to get checked out and I was 1 cm and 50% *** and having contractions (couldn't feel 'em tho) I was close to having her then but my doc said to just come in sat and get checked again, no change. So i was told to wait till the 18th unless i got worse. Which is hard to tell cause with my first I was 3-4 cm and 75% at my last visit went in to be induced and was having contractins but I never felt them so this time I'm not sure if I am worse. I feel some cramping every once in a while but nothing that i can't handle.

Also how can you tell if you are leaking fluid? I've been wearing a pad and it gets a little wet but not soaked it has a weird odor thats hard to explain. i know its not pee. So could it be my fluid? and should I rush to the hospital being that on friday I'm going in anyway?

Thanks

The easiest way to tell if you're leaking fluid is to walk around in the bathtub (or any hard surface) w/o your panties on. If you get a continuous drip with each step you take, it's fluid. If it comes and goes, it's pee. Pee will eventually stop... fluid won't. That's not fool-proof, but it's what the nurse in my childbirth class told us to do. Either way, if you think there's a chance it's fluid, get it checked out! Better safe than sorry!!

Good luck on your section! And WELCOME TO JM!!

Hello, I lurk here at times and post at times. When I was pg with DS, I woke up and felt like I had to go pee and i went to the bathroom and went a little. Then it kept happening plus I was leaking a little, I called my mom for a maxipad cause I thought it was pee.......finally a couple of hours went by and I called my doc, he said he'd meet me at the hospital....sure enough it was fluid. I was admitted. 11 hrs later DS was delivered by c-section.

Moral of the story, if in doubt, call you doc cause if you are leaking then there's a hole in the amniotic sac which is allowing bacteria in and baby needs to come out within 24 hrs!!!!

Congratulations on the upcoming birth of your baby!!!! And welcome to the c-section board!!!! I've heard that amniotic fluid has no odor to it, and also, like the others girls said, if it leaks continuous, there's a pretty good bet that your water broke. Best wishes, and keep us posted on how you are doing.
