i just gave birth to my baby natalie on oct. 20 by c-section... it wasnt emergency but was reccomended because they said she was sunnyside up and not allowing me to go passed 9 centimeters. i even tried to push using the vaccum but was not successful so a c-section was my option. throughout the whole labor i felt pretty much EVERYTHING even with epidural and demoral... it worked for a short while and wore off. when they administered the spinal block through the epidural, they had to do it so much because i still had feeling. well what ended up happening is they gave me KETAMINE... if you guys dont know, its not a fun drug to be under. i felt like i was in another world and was hallucinating the whole time. i lost a sense of everything going on! and i dont remember them taking her out, showing her to me, or anything although my fiance said it happened and i reacted to it! so thats my disappointing story so to speak.

not sure if anyone else experienced anything similar? also, its only been a week but im still bleeding quite often. its more of a dark red bleeding and is streeky looking and it only comes out when i use the bathroom. ive been passing clots too. some small some kinda big. i use a pad but i dont really need it much, i dont soak any pads, like i said it only comes out when i pee. it smells like nasty blood too. not really foul? but definately strong blood smell... anyone else experience this or know if this is normal? i told my nurse today but she said as long as i dont run a fever and get abdominal pain then it should be okay... but im gettin kinda worried none the less...

Thanks in advance!

I'm so sorry you had such a tough delivery ; I was dissapointed with having a c-section too (still am some days) but just realize that she is still your baby no matter how she came out; you may not remember the delivery but you have a lifetime of memories ahead of you!

As far as the bleeding, I bled pretty heavily for the first 3 weeks, then progressively lighter for the next 3 weeks. A few times I would start bleeding very heavily, and it was usually from over-exerting myself before I was ready. It may be coming out mostly when you pee because your bladder is pressing against your uterus when you bear down to pee; nonetheless, if it doesn't slow down in a few more days I would give another call just in case.

Sorry it didn't go as planned. My spinal (planned c/s) didn't take as well as it should, so I was knocked out for mine. I still regret that I missed the birth. I sometimes wish I hadn't told them the spinal wasn't working.

Anyway... small/medium clots and bloody smell are normal. Just as you were told... if you get fever, swelling, puss... anything weird... get it checked out. If you over work yourself, the bleeding will be worse. Give it time. I bled for 4 weeks, but it was always just enough for a liner... like you, I passed more when I peed than anything.

I'm sorry you had such a tough delivery... It's always hard to go into something so exciting and have something so unexpected happen. My delivery wasn't quite as tough as yours, after it was over I did feel a little "left out". I didn't recieve Ketamine either, although I've heard stories about that drug like what you experienced.... It's been almost a year now, and I've learned that there is so much more to enjoy with my daughter and remember about her.
My bleeding was very slow in the end, it was very much like what you described. I had a week or two of a heavy flow similar to my menstral cycle and then it tapered off to what you described. Follow your nurses advice, call in immediately if you run a fever or have abdominal pain. My nurse also told me that I should call in if I have to change pads more than once an hour because it could mean that my body isn't clotting properly (just FYI).

Good Luck and Congrats on your new bundle! Take lots of pictures and cherish every moment!
