Congrats on your little girl!! I don't know what to tell you really... rest as much as possible at first, walk as much as you can tolerate, and something my doctors forgot to tell me, if you have to cough or sneeze, hold a pillow against your incision (I found out the hard way if you don't it hurts a lot worse!)
Sorry I don't have better advice.

How long does it take before they let you walk in the hospital?
How sore were you the first couple days? Was it bearable?
And when would you suggest visitors come? Im telling everyone to wait until the following day. Just because im unsure about how i will be feeling

Well by the time I got to my room it was 11pm (I'd been in labor all day and had an emergency section 11.5 hours in) so it was too late then to have visitors or walk. I was walking a little bit late the next day after they took out my catheter. The next morning I had to have an ultrasound of my kidneys because of something during the surgery so I had to get up then too. It was bearable, yes but I was very very sore. The worst part was getting up and down and trying to move in bed. Once I was actually up, it was ok... I was just really really slow...lol.
My immediate family came in to see me and the baby in recovery, and I had visitors the next day. The first day wasn't too bad, but most people held off I think because they knew I'd be tired. I had talked to a couple people and told them they could come. So it was only again, immediate family, and a couple of my friends.

How long does it take before they let you walk in the hospital? it was the day before i left before i even felt like i could walk-that was i think day 3. and it was still tough
How sore were you the first couple days? Was it bearable? i hate to scare you but my pain was not very bearable, i couldnt move, switch positions it was hard for me to go to the bathroom.
And when would you suggest visitors come? Im telling everyone to wait until the following day. Just because im unsure about how i will be feeling-----my family was there when i had him and i really didnt mind as long as they knew i would be in and out.

Hi, thought I would add what I could.
I wasn't allowed to walk until the third day.
I was only sore (in pain) when I would try to turn onto my side or roll over in the hospital bed while trying to sleep. The rest of the time it was very bearable. In fact, the nurses kept telling me to use my morphine button more, but I didn't feel like I needed it.
I had visitors the same day and was fine with it. By the third day though, it was rougher and I just wanted to recoup.

Congrats on the upcoming birth of your baby!!! I too had to have a c-section because my baby wouldn't fit. I had visitors the morning after I had my baby (I had him at 9:00 the previous night) and I was also able to get up and walk that morning as well, which I might add was difficult at first but got better as I walked more. I didn't have a lot of pain after my section, but I was uncomfortable for the first week or so after I had it. Everything was completely bearable for me though. My advice, is that if you are planning to breastfeed, take a boppy pillow with you to the hospital- it made everything so much easier.
Good luck, and keep us updated on how you are doing before and after the surgery!!!

Congrats on your little girl. I had a c-section after 10 hrs of labor. My little girls head was not coming down straight. I had her at 9:46 p.m. and I wasen't allowed to get up until the following night and that was just to let me move to a chair. Finally when they took the cathder out I could walk to the bathroom with help.
I don't want to scare you either, but the following day I told DH that I was not having anymore children. Of course I have changed my mind now . It hurt to turn over in bed and when you start to get out of bed it felt like my stitches were going to tear. I was pretty sore but you can handle it. Also make sure you rest as much as possible in the hospital. It was hard for me because I was just soo excited about my baby, but when I got home I was feeling it. I had my mom stay with me for a couple of weeks which really helped. I was just so darn tired. I just told my husband after my 6 week pp appointment that I finally feel good so don't be surprised if you just don't feel the best for a few weeks!
This forum is great! The ladies are wonderful if you have any questions at all feel free to ask!!! And good luck to you! Post pics as soon as you can!!!!

Congrats on your upcomming birth!
I had my c/s at 3:30 p.m. and by the next morning they took out my cath and told me I would need to walk to the BR. The first time you get out of bed is painful, I won't lie, but the more you move the more you loosen up. It also hurts to lie down, roll over in bed, cough, sneeze ,etc. but with each day, you feel so much better!
I kept my visitors to a minimum. I was so exhausted that I didn't feel I had the energy to entertain.
My best advice to you-take the pain meds as often as they allow you. The more you keep up on the pain, the less pain you will be in. Also, the first shower is amazing! Oh, and in case you were wondering-the water touching the incision area doesn't really hurt! Just don't let the water hit the area directly!

Welcome! Congratulations on your upcoming baby! I'm Michele 24 mommy of 3 all c/s.
My best advise would be to try and move around as much as you can. The sooner and more ofter you move and walk around the faster you will heal. Oh, and take your pain meds!

How long does it take before they let you walk in the hospital? I was walking the day/night before I got sent home. They didnt take my catheter out until 3 days PP, and were worried about me fainting due to blood loss. I had a blood transfusion at 1 day PP.
How sore were you the first couple days? Was it bearable? i hate to scare you, but It hurt so bad to even sit up and moving from my bed to the wheelchair so I could go see my son in the NICU was horrible. I am allergic to morphine so all they could give me for pain were pills, they didnt really help with the pain at all just made me loopy
And when would you suggest visitors come? Im telling everyone to wait until the following day. Just because im unsure about how i will be feeling-----my family was there when I had Max, Thank God especially since we got transferred, I think in my situation it was different, cause my c-section wasnt planned and Max ended up needing to go to the childrens hospital, I got to go with him, but I think people mainly just called since they knew I was recovering and he was in the NICU. I would recommend that visitors wait a day and if you are not really close ask them to wait until you come home.

Welcome!!! Congratulations on ur lil p'nut!!
How long does it take before they let you walk in the hospital? 12 hours for me. They take u back to Post partum and you'll have a catheter in you to help you pee. You'll be monitored for a few hours and then when 12 hours is up the nurse will come in. Remove your taped gauze bandage and u can take a shower. (which I advise bc you feel oogy after 12 hours) One word of advice. WHILE laying in that bed for those 12 hours.. MOVE SHIFT your hips massage your stomach to get your fundus back into your pelvis bc if a nurse does it from experience your crawling to the top of the bed.. At least I was! So massage your belly and move your hips as much as u can. This will aleviate most of the soreness not all of it, but most of it. ALSO, MAKE sure you tell them you want your PAIN managed adequately. You want your pills on the clock, bc thats the key to healing. If you keep up on ur pills then your more able to move. Becareful when you first get up, you may pass out. Its normal. I did.. also like the other girls said.. use a pillow if u feel sick to ur stomach or u need to cough.
How sore were you the first couple days? Was it bearable? It was bearable as long as I had my pain medicines. The thing that helped me the most was Toradol this is a anti-inflammatory and it actually helped me more than the narcotics. I got to my feet w/ my 2nd one as soon as they would let me I wanted up sooner, but they said no and I was showering and shaving my legs w/o a shower chair. Thanks to me moving as much as I did in my bed. With my first I babied the incision and I was REALLY sore for WAY to long.
And when would you suggest visitors come? Im telling everyone to wait until the following day. Just because im unsure about how i will be feeling...
Being military.. we had no visitors with our 2nd. With my first my mom was there and it was really irritating. I wanted to spend time admiring my creation w/ my husband not everybody and their sister.. some ppl feel differently, but I wanted it to be more private. When our 2nd came I enjoyed spending time with him, the new baby and me. It really was a much needed bonding experience.
Good luck and remember thousands of women go thru this same experience everyday.. your a woman.. which makes you strong and yes you can get through this!! Reflect on the moment of the birth not the surgery itself and it will be much more beautiful.
