It was called "mineral makeup" Ė products made of all natural, finely ground minerals from the earth, without any of the chemicals, dyes, and preservatives found in traditional makeup.
Now a-days Mineral make up is exploding on the beauty market with brands like Bare Escentuals becoming huge with lines like BareMinerals which boasts the fact they are free of all the nasty chemicals found in regular make up, like talc, oils and preservatives.
While this is all fabulous there is of course still room to be wary, Jeremy Benabio MD writes for the Dermatology blog and wrote a fab article on his thoughts on mineral make up and whether it really is better for your skin or not. His findings are really interesting, but remember a lack of nasty ingredients will be much better for naturally sensitive skin.
Really I think all you can do is: Research your brand, see what people have to say, search for dermatologically approved items if you can, and look for reports on ingredients used, then there is no need to be duped by brands claiming mineral make up when it isn't mineral make up.
