I was wondering...I have been having periods since about 6 mos PP (maybe 4 mos tho, can't remember!) and am going on my 11th month PP. I have had EWCM and ovulatory pains but I guess am not 100% sure I have been ovulating. I do have patches of EWCM that sometimes occur multiple times per month, do not temp (won't), and have had pretty regular cycles ranging from about 30 days-35 days or so. I am awaiting AF right now and today is CD 30. I used OPK's when conceiving my daughter and played around with them this month when I *thought* I was ovulating but got a negative (although still a line). I have tested on and off since and now...no line. And it's been dry as a bone down there for like, two weeks..so what gives!! Maybe LH climbs but never peaks in BF women, some cycles?

I know you can menstruate without officially ovulating..but every month? I am wondering if my body just keeps gearing up...and then fading...and then gearing up...etc...which would explain the patches of EWCM and the neg OPK (I did not test twice a day tho or even every day with that).

I am getting my fertility monitor today and part of me is just expecting it to say "HIGH" fertility on EWCM days but never get a "PEAK" to indicate O is happening. I have heard that can happen with this monitor. Since hubby and I are trying loosely for a boy we are to have sex only on "PEAK" days so I figure I'll play around with the monitor for a few months but after that forget it maybe if I get weird readings and am still BF.


What has been your experience with your cycles and your return to fertility?? Esp if you have been using OPK's or know you ovulated AND are having pretty regular cycles.. Or anything else you know that might help me out! Thanks!!

It is common to have annovulatory cycles while breastfeeding (non ovulating). With my last pregnancy, I got my ppaf at 7 months, 1st and 2nd cycle were annovulatory, 3rd cycle I O'd and conceived.

This time around I got my ppaf at almost 11 months, O'd 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycle, conceiving the 3rd cycle.

If you've just been using the OPK's off and on, you may have just missed your surge. I'd use them every day when it nears the time you usually ovulate.

I agree. You need to use them daily to not miss the surge. Two lines is not uncommon as you do have surges throughout your cycle but it is only equal-or-darker colour lines that count as a positive.
I have used them before and am doing them again now and ovulate late in my cycle and not related to when I get EWCM.
The fertility monitor should help though! I know they say the earlier you get AF back the slower your fertility is to return.
I fgot my PPAF at 9mths but have been unable to concieve whilst nursing so have finally weaned last week. But I am 'rarer' as most women can concieve whilst nursing.

I did not know that about the earlier the period returns the longer to fertility! Good to know!


AF still hasn't come. I am bummed, I guess I did not O this cyce cuz I tested with OPK's from CD 19 or so on and never a positive. Just wish she would get here so I could use my FM!

I have a few OPK's that I still plan to use twice a day when the monitor starts telling me "high". I am hoping I'll catch the surge because I have heard the monitor can just tell you "HIGH" the first time (which it will anyway if i am not ovulating). This will be a learning experience.

Last time we BD'd so much because we did the sex every other day plan. We were so tired! This time it'll be so much easier, but obviously may take longer. Hubby is excited lol

UPDATE:

I AM PREGNANT!!!

I mean, holy shnikees! I peed on two ovulation stips recently just out of curiosity and they were stark white! (So don't ever use an OPK to detect early pregnancy ladies lol) I went to the store today and feeling sooo stupid (since it was so dry down there, didn't really have symptoms etc.altho I have been dizzy) I got some FRER's. Came home after peeing an hour a half before and WHAM, instant line! I was like "WHAT?" lol. So shocked. I even looked at the package again to make sure I didn't buy ovulation sticks lol

So we DTD once for that. Guess it was the right time. At first I panicked...I did for all my pregnancies..I am always happy but a part of me always wondering if I made the "right" choice. But I do that with everything lol.

So much for trying for A BOY! LOL who knows, whatever God gives us! I don't even know my due date yet.

I already opened the monitor. I also got extra sticks. And Pre-Seed. And a few ovulation tests and pregnancy tests coming in the mail. LOL. Better this way but I would have liked a few girls nights out first lol. Heck, I was all stoked for my beer tonight! I've had a few beers in this 2WW, hope all is OK..

Anyway WOOT!! I won't be hugely pregnant in the Arizona summer again!
