I try to make it as fair as I can but the main thing we do is allow them to ask *Santa* for one thing and that item does not have a $ limit as it varies greatly for kid to kid.

For exapmle.. my 3 yr DS wants KOTA and my 8 yr DD wants a whoopie cushion! (Dont ask she is a our pranktser LOL)

I then do a limit for the rest.

This yr we are going to do less for us and more for someone else. We have 3 or 4 long time companies close down and litrally in our small area we have hundreds of folks out of work. This has never happened here in my life time and it really hitting familes hard.

I don't put a dollar amount on what I buy but I know how much I can spend in total and don't go over it. Luckily the kids are still young so they don't really notice costs. I also dont limit what others spend on the kids but I try to encourage them to not spend to much or stress about what they feel they should be spending.

Not so much... we do one "big" gift for each kid, which is usually something they've been REALLY wanting for a while now (like the 14 yo has been really wanting an electric guitar). We may do one "big" family gift as well (if its something we know several of the kids want, but would fight over if we only gave it to one specific kiddo). Other than that, its little stuff (movies, toe socks are HUGE in my house lol, etc) and stocking stuffers. For family outside our home, its generally between $30-50 depending on if there is something going on in their life (such as a neice graduating high school this year, so her christmas gift will be something college oriented).

In the past it's been $100 per kid. This year though....money has been tight for so many that we spent a lot less on our kids and they got to pick out gifts for an angel off an angel tree.

I put a limit on the whole thing, but not each person. For example, Kaeli wants an iPod, but Natalie doesn't care... so I spent more on Kaeli.
