I'm starting to learn why FF is the JM board drunk.....she has given me and taken away crosshairs 3 times - why is this happening......I'm a getting very bored of charting - anyone got any suggestions....I called the doctor/nurse yesterday and she said to just wait it out another month (since I have an appt when we get back from vacation) - she said three months is not too lonng to wait - does that sound okay? This is still my first cycle off BCP - I have been on BCP since June 2006 (8 weeks or so after DS was born)....I"m just confused - we want to start trying after my appt with the doct in June (12th) and this is giving a bad feeling about the whole thing?

Any advice - stories of long cycle and then body gets back on track - or is this a sign of chronically long and annov cycles?

If you just came off BC, then it's common to have long cycles. After 90 days it is a reason for concern and to want to induce, but before that they don't stress. I'd just keep temping and checking your CM for now, or you can wait until after your appt to see what happens.

Thanks Jen - I will wait it out - I thought I'd be even more regular after one pregnancy/birth, not more irregular - so I guess I'm just shocked this is actually the way it is. But I'm not going to stress over it and see what dr. says at my appt......I'm going to enjoy my vacation....!!!!

remember it's the BCP that is doing it to you. it takes a while for your body to get used to being on it's own hormones again

The longer you're off of birth control the more normal you'll see your cycles become. Your temps could become less erratic, your cycles will shorten to a normal range, and it'll be a lot easier for FF to tell when you O'd. After a few months of no visit from AF they can give you medicine to bring on the witch so you can start a new cycle. Just hand in there, it's the birth control messing with you. What pill were you on? Some tend to mess with women more than others.

Thanks that makes me feel better .....I was on a progestrone only pill - low does - I forget what it was called it was a generic....but that is the same kind I was on prior to going off in 2004 to get ready to have DS and my longest cycle (even first one off BCP) was 48 days or so.....so this is just different for me and even though I've heard it happening I didn't think it would ever be this long or this bad.

I'll keep you posted - either the witch will come or I will have an update after my next appt with the OBGYN.

It can 3-18 months to recover from the effects of the BCP, give yourself some time! Your body is going through a big hormonal adjustment coming off the synthetic hormones, so try to be patient. Hang in there!

Thanks Shawna - I've been reading more and more about this and feel better - I guess I just didn't know enough about it and didn't expect it b/c it didn't happen with DS. I was also surprised I"d get an O from FF and then have it taken away - but I'm understanding more about the temps thing - but getting DH to understand is a whole different story! HA HA HA
