cycle day 36 and still no O...
I had a loooong cycle...in August of last year..finally o'd on cycle day 41....had a 57 day cycle...
sooooo...any ideas to help me to o so I can get this cycle over with..I have been regular since October last year within a week....now, I have skipped May's period..and if I go to much longer I will skip June's too...
I am not trying for a bfp..I chart to avoid...so the quicker I can o, the quicker I can get my AF ..and feel normal again...
what can I do...I heard taking vitex now, will only delay ovulation..but would make a good one..

My last cycle was also very long. My midwife suggested I take Vitex, and after a week and a half of that along with a strict diet I finally got AF. But I don't think I ever O'd.

oh, so vitex, did help you get AF...but you don't think you o'd??? That's interesting...I was scared to take my vitex to try to o, because I heard before O it causes delayed ovulation...and this cycle is long enough....
I know vitex balances prolactin...so maybe that is what is going on...
sorry I got to overanalyze...
ok, I will try it..how much did you take...by mg I mean?

800 mg (2 capsules, 400 mg each) with lunch and then again with dinner. I really don't know how it works with O, I just know my midwife said to try it because it is supposed to regulate menstral cycles. She also has a tincture containing vitex that they give after miscarriages to help "reset" your body, but I didn't take that. Basically since I was annovulatry we were trying to reset my body like that, and it worked. I am also on a very strict diet though, and I'm sure that had a bit to do with it. You might want to do some more research before you decide to take it.

I have taken vitex in the past...but never just straight up in the middle of a cycle...so we'll see..I've got nothing to lose...here's some info regarding high prolactin and annovulatory cycles...
Makes sense...I will try it..thanks.
Prolactin and Infertility
Prolactin doesn't just cause your body to increase milk production - it also affects your ovulation and menstrual cycles. This is why it is nearly impossible to become pregnant when you are breastfeeding. (In fact, prolactin is 90% effective against pregnancy in the first months after birth).
Prolactin inhibits two hormones necessary to your ovulation: follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH). Both of these hormones are responsible for helping your eggs to develop and mature in the ovaries, so that they can be released during ovulation. When you have excess prolactin in your bloodstream, ovulation is not triggered, and you will be unable to become pregnant. Prolactin may also affect your menstrual cycle and the regularity of your periods.
Clinical evidence
Clinical studies have shown its beneficial effects in the management of premenstrual stress syndrome (PMS).[1][2][3] The use of extracts of the plant is recommended in Germany.[4]
Its mechanism of action is not well known. A study has found that treatment with Vitex Agnus-castus caused a slight reduction of prolactin levels.[5] A decrease of prolactin will influence levels of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and estrogen in women; and testosterone in men.

I took vitex for about three cycles, and with every cycle, I didn't ovulate, but my cycles became very regular. When I don't take vitex, my cycles are irregular and long. I am about to start vitex with my next cycle, but I doubt I will owe. I swear by it to help your cycles get more regular, though!
Good luck!

wow, you didn't o and had regular cycles ashleigh? May I ask how you know you didn't o? No temp shift? no ewcm? I know when I took vitex last time...I got a butt load of ewcm....for over a week, and did o...
I am taking my 300 mg vitex pills. 2 daily...I have to finish the 300 mg bottle, before I can get a 400 mg bottle. Thanks so much for the information...
well the doctor thinks I should do another pregnancy test, because I skipped my May period...I don't want to get into it about how I don't think I o'd...because my chart is not showing it...although my left side has been getting crampy, but I don't know if that's just gas...but if feels like o pains...cause it doesn't go away after I pass the gas, but I feel it under my ribs and not near my left hip like normal...
um, I have a question...
I get up not once in the middle of the night...but sometimes 2 times in the middle of night to pee...and if my doctor's appt is not until 11: 00 am...I have already gone pee about 12 times...not kidding..I just can't hold it..never could...after I drink coffee...I pee about 5 times in one hour...not kidding..
I am not going through the aggravation of another test at the doc's office...so should I just do one the first time I get up? I go to bed at midnight and get up at 3 am then 5 am..then I get up at 6 am and go pee, and so on....holding it for more than 2 hours is only doable if I really dehydrate myself...
should I do this just to get a good pee to test? Sorry about all the pee questions...

Can you get a blood test instead? Maybe ask your Dr about that option, they don't really cost much more than a urine test.

I doubt they will agree to a blood test before a urine test...I think I'll wait it out a little longer before I do that...
I'm going to see if I don't o...I asked them if they could check my hormones, and they told me since you missed your period..take another preggo test...
thanks for the help doc?
so I know if I go to ANOTHER appt...they will just order another urine preggo test...which will be a waste...ugh...
anyways, I'm still taking vitex, cause I really don't think I o'd...
