From what I understand, it's the progesterone that is secreted post-ovulation and also during pregnancy that causes sore or sensitive nipples. Your progesterone levels rise after Oing, and for some people, you get very sore nipples or breasts right before AF comes. I always hated that when we were TTC, because I would always trick myself into thinking that they were sore because I was pregnant--it can be a "symptom" of pregnancy.
