For the past two cycles I have not charted but did use the OPK's. Does anyone else get a positive on their OPK's for 3 -5 days in a row? Last month I thought maybe it was a fluke -- but again this month I get negatives up until 14 DPO and then it stays positive for 4 days. I realize this just means I have the hormone still in my system (not that I'm fertile all 4 days)...but my question is whether other people experience this with OPK's and if so, if it is a problem I need to have looked at by a doctor. I'll start temping next cycle to make sure I'm actually ovulating - especially since these OPK's are giving me such odd results. Just wanted to get other's thoughts on the matter.

Thanks!

I have that as well if I catch the surge at the very beginning. It just means that your body flushes the LH out of your urine more slowly. If it's 5+ days of positives then you may have a cyst or it can be a warning sign of PCOS. Just 3-5 days though isn't abnormal from everything that I've read.

Thanks for the quick reply! Do you know if you still ovulate 24-36 hours after the initial surge or is it different since the hormone stays longer in your system?

After seeing a hormone surge, you will O around 24 hours afterwards...

Good luck hon!

For me I usually O on day 3 or 4 of positive OPKs. The test line will be significantly darker than the control line so they are definitely positives. You should start to see your own pattern as time goes on. You may O on day 2-3 or 3-4 or even 5 since it isn't unheard of for women to O after their last positive which would put their O date on a day that they test negative. Good luck!
