Hi ladies! I post on TTC and MAM07 PR and I just started charting, I charted a little when TTC DD as well. I have just started to lurk on this thread a bit and now I am wondering if I can ask you a question? I noticed on a ton of charts in the gallery on FF that there is a pretty good dip on or around ovulation, does that normally happen?
Thanks for any input you can give me!!

In general, you'll have a dip in temp the day your O and the following day you'll have a significant rise. That, combined with your CM and CP is how you know you've O'ed.

ETA: I just looked at your chart. It looks to me like you're going to O today! Or maybe tomorrow. I definitely suggest BD'ing today.

Thanks so much Niamh!!

So, I guess I have a part 2 to that question, so the dip does not come following the release of the egg, it means it is about to happen?? Since FF friend seemed to mark O on the date of the temp drop? I guess I am asking this detailed of a ? because we did not BD the last couple nights and I am afraid that I could have missed it. We will BD tonight for sure, and next couple nights.

I just want to caution you, you cannot really predict ovulation based on your temps--temping is more for confirming that you did O. It's much reliable to use your CP, CM and OPKs to detect when you're Oing. You have some fertile mucous now--you should always BD when you have that fertile CM, because that's what sperm can live in.

Also.... and hope you don't have to stick around for too long (hope you'll get your BFP!!), but we'd love to have you here if it doesn't happen right away!!!!!

Good luck!!!!

Thank you sjkduke! I hope I dont have to stick around here long either! But it is hard for me to believe that a BFP will come soon because it took 2 years TTC DD!! My temp went back up today so I am hopeful that I will or am O'ing, I am pretty sure that I have annovulatory cycles, not every cycle but more often than not.

By the way... I am Beth (31) married to DH (30) for 4 years and we have a DD(19mos).

Looks like you almost definitely O'ed yesterday!

I know how you feel too... It took us almost 3 years to conceive Seamus. I'm pretty sure my big problem was simply not DTD during ovulation. Since charting now, I'm pretty confident that it'll happen faster for us now.

sjkduke is right, temping helps you identify ovulation AFTER ovulation (with a big temp rise). Your other signs (CM, CP) help you identify when you're GOING to O.
