Thanks for all your input on my chart over the last week. I finally got my period today. So I'm still not sure if I ovulated, but oh well, I have 5 months to get back to normal.

So for the next five cycles (while the Air Force steals my husband) I'll be charting so we can TTC#2 in April.

I'm Amanda, married to Dakota since 6/25/2007, mommy Reagan, born 9/10/2008.

Looking forward to getting to know all of you all a little better!!!

well at least you have one answer. I say just keep with it over the coming months. Charting just takes a while to get used to.

welcome AManda! I already know you on SOS, hehe. Good luck with charting, it can take a bit to get the hang of it!

He's going to be a ground linguist, so we already know where we'll be for the first 2 years, which is nice.

He wants to have Arabic for his language, and since that's the #1 priority and he scored really well on the DLAB, they said he should get it.

He has to go to DLI in Monterey, CA for 16 months.

Then he has to go for 5 months to Goodfellow in TX.

And then we'll be in Georgia (Fort Gordon) or Maryland (Fort Meade).

Ugh...we joined the AF for the AFBs and AF housing...and we have two Army bases we could go to.

I love waking upn to the mountains every day. I've lived my entire life on the east coast (flat land flat water) so this is so new! Depending on how far from Warner Robins (GA) or Dover (MD) you might still be able to live in Air Force housing. When we were in VA we had a bunch of people that lived in another branch's housing because of waiting lists or spouses work. And since you're new at being a dependant remember they'll tell you you can't do things just so they don't have to deal with the paperwork. Tricare is known for hiding information to make their jobs easier, and MPF will give you an answer just to get you to go away even if its wrong. Finance may or may not have your information right so watch the paychecks coming in, if you get extra $$ put it away and have your DH go to finance right away. If finance overpays you they will figure it out and they can take the $$ back in one chunk. Your DH will get all of this info, but not all of it will get to you (men are not known for their verball communication skills) so if you have any ?s let me know.

Yeah, my DH is awful at relaying information, awful.

I'll have to look at what's around, because uhh...we turned down a $40,000 enlistment bonus for the Army just to get the supposed better quality of life for families in the Air Force. I'm bitter.

Hey Amanda... I'm in your PR, but am lurking a bit. If it makes you feel any better, AF folks usually get extra pay if they have to live in Army housing. As an Army girl, that made me a little bitter. Hee hee. Meade is a really nice base; its totally a POG (no infantry) base, so not so much with the bad-behavior you see with grunts (I'm allowed to say this, I'm married to a former Marine grunt). The BIG benefit to Meade is that you have tons of other bases in the area (too many to name), so if you need a specific service ONE of the bases in the area will have it.
I also wanted to tell you, I may be Army, but I am an NCO, so if you need any military advice or need someone to get info for you, just PM me and I'd be glad to help out. When I was an active duty NCO, I spent a lot of time helping out wives because they were comfortable coming to me (another woman) instead of some of the other male supervisors.
Oh & Monteray, CA is beautiful! You guys won't want to leave DLI. One of my closest friends went through the Arabic course there back in 2000-2001.

I was active duty for 6 years in the Air Force, but being a dependant is a whole new world. There are a lot of things you'll be able to do for you and your DH but there will be a lot of things you won't be able to do without him, just because he's the one with the white ID card. So now you have AmandaEliz to ask army post questions and someone to ask air force questions, please don't hesitate to ask away.
