Hi! I'm Lacey and I'm 21. Married to Ted and mom to almost 4yo Owen. We've been TTC for 4 months now with no luck (I got pregnant with DS right off the bat, although I was on BC and we were NOT trying..I was 17). I'm going to start charting but it confuses the heck out of me!! Also, I started spotting 3-4 days prior to starting my period (which started late last night). TMI -- but my spotting was clotty and brownish red and only when I wiped. My question is, does that count as my period or do I count my period as starting last night?!

YOu are supposed to start it from the 1st day where you have to wear a pad. Or that is how I always count mine.

When you chart it is much better if you take your temp the same time every day. I would set the clock hit snooze and put the thermomoter in my mouth and close my eyes till it beeped that gave me the best temp for charting. The more that you do it the more you will learn. Good Luck!

Thank you!! That has really only been my main concern because I always spot before I start! What is the best kind of thermometer to get?

I got a basal one off Ebay new for $4.99 shipping and all just make sure it is a Basal one and mine reads 4 numbers ( 97.42 ) I am not sure if it is going to make a diffrence in charting because this is my 1st month charting with it. I have not charted in almost 3 years. As long as it is Basal you will be fine. Please feel free to ask anything you need to know.

Well all you have to do is ask! I charted for about 10 cycles before I got my BFP ( I did have a M/C ) but I found out that I was not ovulating a mature egg and that is why I had such a hard time. I did a ton of chart stalking on my way and I ask tons of questions to learn everything I could.

If you have a few minutes to read through this, it will give you all the basics you need for tracking your CM:

Welcome! Charting is a wonderful way to feel empowered as a woman and know what's going on when. When I started charting I got the book Taking Charge of your Fertility by Toni Weschler. I highly recommend you tracking this book down and making it a part of your private library. It is so helpful when you are starting out with charting. And then there is always us ladies to chip in our thoughts on your chart as well!

I did read the book and I liked it but but after I got pregnant with Paige I gave it to a woman I knew that was having a hard time TTC.

Hi and !!!! Definitely make sure you get a basal thermometer that reads out to the second decimal.

I hope your journey to a BFP is short and sweet, but we are definitely happy to have you here!
