I would like to start charting to avoid since it worked well when TTC. However having a 2 month old makes it impossible for me to temp at the same time (at least if I want to take advantage of whatever sleep I can get ). He is not sleeping well through the night yet and we are usually up 2-3 times, anywhere from 11-5:30, for changes and feedings. On a good night I can get 4 hours straight somewhere in there but then when he wakes me up he's so ravenously hungry that I don't have time to temp before getting to him.

Any advice on how to handle this? I really want to make charting work but have no idea how to go about it.

Post partum charting will be different than what you were used to before baby. Charting to TTA is also different than charting to TTC, so I would highly recommend taking a course! A certified instructor can walk you through everything you need to know, step by step. They have online courses, home study courses, in person courses! There are also NFP charting systems that are 99% for avoiding pregnancy that don't involve your temps, just a thorough understanding of the CM. Also an option to consider!

If you have any questions about TTA with charting - don't hesitate to pop over to NFP/FAM. That's what we do over there! Link is in my sig...Proud Member Of...

I havent used the NFP or FAM methods but have heard that if followed correctly that its 99% effective. I do know that tools such as FertilityFriend isnt a tool that you want to use if you're TTA

I know people don't encourage depending on temps when you get erratic sleep but......

I work nights and get very erratic sleep. pretty much any time that I get more than 3 hours of sleep in a row, I temp. Sometimes if I get to 3 hour periods of sleep i'll temp twice and take the one that makes the most sense. I don't really worry about the time. I still seem to get a pretty accurate thermal shift. But then again, i'm trying to concieve, not trying to avoid, so i have a little more room for error.

Just my 2 cents. Good luck!

I agree--pop over to the NFP board--they'll get you started! Congrats on the new little one, and good luck!

Of course, you are ALWAYS welcome to stick around here!

Thank you! I'll try the NFP board. I definitely want to do it the right way. As much as I'd love another LO I don't think my nerves could take it yet.
