I hate to get my hopes up since FF tends to give me CH's and then take them away often, but I've been doing what the midwife said and this time around my CM was different. I don't know how to explain it, just different than it has been the last few cycles. If I did really O, this will be the earliest that I've O'd since I started charting nearly a year ago. Which would be great news. Bad news is that there is almost no chance that I would have conceived, being as the the last time we BD'd would have been 5 days before O. I know that's still in the fertile window but still, I'm not holding my breath. Either way, it would be nice to actual O this early so I'm hoping that is the case and what I'm doing is starting to work.

Well, I had very long discussion with her and then an exam and blood work and she looked over my charts as well. Turns out I don't have PCOS afterall, thankfully, but my body is all screwed up from taking BC pills long term, causing several minor issues that are all working against each other. My thyroid test came back normal but my levels are on the low end of normal, which is causing my extreme low temps. Hormons from the BC pills can build up in your liver, which affects thyroid function, making it "slugish" as she said. So I'm doing a milk thistle liver cleanse for a month to help with that. I'm also taking chromium and cinnamon to help control my blood sugar, which isn't too bad but is still being affected by all of this. I'm taking Vitex to help regulate my cycles. I've been taking it for a while but she said it takes 3-6 months of continuous use before you see any major results so that is probably just starting to work now. And I also have estrogen dominance, meaning too little progesterone, so I'm using progesterone cream twice daily. And I'm on a strict diet of almost no carbs or dairy and absolutely no white carbs, and high in fresh fruits and veggies. Also she said eggs and carrots are good for fertility so I should have an egg and some carrots daily. And I'm about to get my husband started on vitamin C, vitamin E and zinc which have been proven to increase male fertility. It is a lot to think about and takes a ton of dedication, but I'm determined to fix my problems through holistic medicine, especially now that I know there is nothing major wrong with me. She said in about 3 months or so I should see a major difference.

I forgot to add that the progesterone cream will hopefully increase my leuteal phase, which has only been 8 days that couple of cycles.

And here is my herbal regimen incase anyone is interested in dosage and stuff:

Chromium, 900mcg daily and Cinnamon 1200mg daily. I take the Nature's Way blood sugar formula, which also contains extra Viatmin A.
Vitex, 1600mg daily (400mg per capsule)
Milk Thistle, 525mg daily until I finish the whole bottle.

With breakfast I take 1 milk thistle, 2 blood sugar capsules, and 1 women's multivitamin.
With lunch and dinner I take 2 vitex, 2 blood sugar, and 1 milk thistle.

Wow I had no idea that taking Bcp long term could have such an effect. Doctors always rave about how there's no risk. I took them for about 9 years. Got off of them in December. Yayyy on the holistic approach to regulating your body, I know it will all be worth it in the end. I wonder if there's anything crazy going on with my body

I take Vitex as well, hoping to shorten my cycles, although I'm taking 1/2 of what you are. I hear B6 is good to lengthen LP as well - but be careful not to OD if your already taking any muti-vitamins. I am hypothyroid, so my temps are low as well. Good luck! I hope everything your taking is helping!

I looked at your charts and you don't seem to have any of the problems I'm having. Actually you'rs look pretty great to me! I never realized how bad BC pills can be until recently. I mean yes they're great for some things but it does make sense that long term use of synthetic hormones can have an affect on your body. Of course this isn't the case for everyone, and in fact I never had any problems before this last year and a half.

I was taking a lower dose of Vitex before but she had me up the dose. How long have you been taking it? She told me it takes 3-6 months of continuous use before you can determine if it's actually working or not, and the results are best with long term use.

I started taking it again after my m/c at the end of Dec., but I had started taking them about a month before I got pg in Oct. I've read that they can cause uterine contractions sometimes, so I don't take it after I O, and start up when AF comes (not that I expect a pg, but 'just in case' LOL). I'm not sure if it will do any good, but I figure it can't hurt. Maybe I will up to 4 pills a day

You may just need to be taking it longer before you see results. Or who knows, maybe that alone isn't going to be enough for you, I know I didn't see any difference at all until I started doing the combination of things, vitex alone didn't help with much other than helping me feel not so overly moody. There are also herbs you can take that will help your thyroid, you might want to do some research into that. I know iodine (can get it from kelp supplements) is one of the big ones for thyroid. And are you on any type of special diet?I read somewhere that you're supposed to avoid certain foods, including some certain fruits, but I can't remember the exact details.

I'm actually on synthetic thyroid hormone, so that helps. Yeah, it's funny, I should avoid soy and broccoli. I have to avoid high fiber and calcium for the first half of the day to.

I'm hoping to see a change in the next 6 months, but only time will tell.
