Hi Ladies!

I recently went off depo (was only on it for 1 cycle). My 13 weeks were up on Feb. 9th and of course they say that it can take a while for fertility to return. I had what I thought were O pains on Feb. 14, and normall, AF would've showed, but I have no signs of her either, so I figure depo is getting the best of me for now. I was thinking about purchasing a BBT thermometer and charting just to see what my new cycles will be like. So do I have to wait for AF to start temping? Would temping now give me any idea of if or when I ovulated or if I am even ovulating? Or should I go the OPK route until AF shows?

We're not TTC at this point, but I don't think it would hurt to know what's going on. I've always monitored my cycles, so I am a little perturbed by this shot.

TIA!

Unfortunately, Depo is a very aggressive drug and it can take considerable time to recover from it. The average time it takes to fully recover from it is approximately 12-18 months and up to 3 years. Some women go without cycling at all for a time, others experience bleeding episodes but are not ovulating, and in some rare cases - go right back to normal immediately. Give your body time and patience to heal. All you can really do is wait to see how it's going to be for you.

Honestly though, if you want to start charting, I don't think it would hurt...that way you could know whether or not things are returning to normal.

Good luck!

I too did one shot years ago, and it did take a long while to get my body back to "normal.

Thank you for responding...now I do have another question.

Is it normal to have PMS after stopping depo? I'm bloating off and on, tired, sometimes nauseated, headaches, some cramping, and moody...Yesterday and today it felt like AF should've come, but she didn't. I've got a couple of pimples too. Even my CM is doing what it does pre-AF, so what's going on? Are these just hormonal shifts or something and not AF?

I'm really hating that I got on depo now.

Hi there! I was on Depo for 2 shots before getting off and ttc our first baby. We didn't get pregnant for 16 months because I got a luteal phase defect from it. So, yeah, it can make you cycles really wonky.

I'd say temping at this point would be a great idea. It will let you know what is going on. You'll be able to see if you do ovulate, and so you would know when to expect AF for the first time. Plus, if the worst happens, and when it comes time to ttc, and you can't, your doctor will want charts.

I don't know about the PMS'ing, though.
