Hello ladies!

I am expecting baby #1 any time now...

We sorta used charting to get pregnant, but it only took us 2 months, so I think we just got lucky (since I didn't really have a defined chart yet).

As soon as I have this baby I want to start charting again for natural birth planning. We would like to get pregnant again after this baby turns 1.

What is the easiest way to do it? Paper and pencil by the nightstand? Online?

Thanks!
Lindsay

If you're charting to avoid FF is not accurate enough. One of the ladies here charts to avoid and I believe she even teaches how to do that correctly. I would suggest finding a class to attend. Especially if you don't want a surprise before you're ready.

The most reliable way to use Natural Family Planning is to learn it properly from a certified instructor! There are online courses, live classes, private classes, home study programs - lots of options! It's very reliable (99%) and very simple once you learn to do it properly. Without the adequate training, it can be really confusing and the effectiveness is much lower. Feel free to pop over to NFP/FAM if you have any questions!

I hate to ask, but what is Natural Family Planning? Is that just observing your body signals to know when you're O'ing? Sorry for the silly questions...

That's right. Natural Family Planning (NFP) is an umbrella term that describes methods which teach a woman to interpret her daily signs of fertility to determine if she is potentially fertile or not on any given day. The information can be used to avoid or achieve pregnancy, depending on the couple's intentions. To avoid, abstinence is practiced according to the rules of whichever form of NFP the couple is using.

That's good to know. I guess that is what we have been doing since my son's birth in 09/07. It would be a little easier if I were more regular. I am on CD 62 in this cycle, and judging by my CM and mild cramps, I have just O'd. But I do tend to read my body signs pretty well.

There is a great book on NFP and some other methods called "Taking Charge of Your Fertility". I highly recommend it!
