I have a short luteal phase or 7 - 8 days but am taking B6 and Vitex to try to lengthen it so its vital I know my ovulation day so I can tell if its working! Feryility friend put my ovulation on CD 19 and I had lots of EWCM upto that day but it was a low 1dpo and 2dpo rise than normal and a 5dpo dip is a first when its always been a 3 or 4dpo dip. So on this data I am on 8dpo and sure AF isn't coming today (no pre-AF dip).
ANYhoo....yeasterday I had one stringy bit of EWCM in the evening (not unusual in the days before AF) but if I enter it on my chart it changes my ovulation day to CD21 - putting me on 6dpo not 8dpo and gives me my usual 3dpo dip.
Of course I WANT my ov to be cd19 so I can say yay, my luteal phase got longer! But thats no help if its false! But how can one patch of EWCM change the data? Should I enter it because it was only one patch and I have been sticky/dry the rest of the time?

Here's my chart! The high start temp was me getting over a fever-illness last month.

Ugh, I hate slow rises. They are so ambiguous! Anyway, I'm not sure what to call it. I do believe it is either cd19 or 20. But, based on cm, I don't think cd21 is it. Why today's cm would change that, I don't know. For now, I'd leave the cm out, and see what happens with the rest of your cycle.

I would say CD17 but I dont really know your history...I personally always have dips on the day of O but if you do not then it may not be CD17 that would make that dip at CD24 actually 7DPO which would be around implantation time!

This is a hard one though, I say it was either CD17 or CD21

Thanks you two! I think I am going to leave the EWCM off but I am going to be a bit dubious about celebrating a longer LP if I get one!

I too thought at the time on CD17 that it was an ovualtion dip but with the following temps I am certain it wasn't. I do believe CD19 must be it based on EWCM up until that day and then stopping (plus slight cramping) but then CD24's dip is consistant with my other chart patterns and makes CD21 likely and it even looks better than the slower rise from CD19!
Agh! Charting definitely isn't as easy as you think is it!

I can understand that!!! I've always had short LPs, and I know how frustrating they are!

And, you're right about charting not being as easy as you think it is--it's difficult sometimes! But, the hope is that in the end it can be very rewarding!

Good luck!

Ahhhh!!! I've been so STUPID!!!!!!!!

Guess what???? You know I said that the CD1 temp was high because I was really ill and had a fever? Well duh....I should have discarded it shouldn't I? Because once I did my ovulation day has stayed on CD19 regardless of EWCM entries!

Which means.............I GOT A 10 DAY LUTEAL PHASE!!!!!! I know, bad news I got AF today but I am so happy! The B6 must have worked (increasing from 100mg to 200mg).

Looks like my ttc is a real possibility now! Although is it still less chance being a 10 day LP as opposed to a 12 or 14 day LP? Or is the chance the same now?
