You can ovulate ANY time in your cycle, but normally you wouldn't ovulate on or so close to your period (that tends to be more common for peri-menopausal women). If you ovulated on or so close to the end of your period (say, on CD 7), then your cycle would be very short... approximately 21 days.
Since your last cycle was 24 days, you probably ovulated around day 10 (based on a 14 day Luteal Phase). If you continue to have such short cycles, you might want to consult your doctor. It may be totally normal for you and everything may be fine, but it can't hurt to find out.
