I posted this on the TTC section, but thought i'd try here since it's my temperatures that are really making me wonder what's going on. Here is the deal...went off BCP in February, had one long cycle (like 45 days), now here I am on day 17 of my cycle and i'm spotting bright red, more like a light period. This has been going on for 3 1/2 days now. I know going off the BCP can mess with your cycles for a while, but I can't figure out if this is mid cycle spotting (maybe I actually ovulated this cycle??) or if i'm having another period after only 14 days! I had a big temp increase two days ago, which looks like ovulation to me (temps up two days in a row). I just find it odd to be having more like a PERIOD rather than spotting mid cycle. If it is my period, my temps usually go way down. I also just started Vitex last month. I'm taking 1000 mg of the GNC Vitex a day. Anybody have any ideas on all of this??

Hmm, interesting. I'm starting to wonder if I should try 500 mg and see if that helps. Then again, maybe the vitex dosage that i'm taking is helping me to do SOMETHING since I just came off the pill. ??? Ugh....so annoying! Did you stop taking the Vitex then?

I have heard of the pink or brownish spotting around O, but this is just so red and period like, but not as heavy as my normal period flow. Anybody else had this happen with/without vitex?

It sounds to me like you could be having a light period, which wouldn't be too unusual. Synthetic hormones can really screw you up, and they can stay in your body for a very long time, then your body has to learn how to work on it's on again. It might take some more time before you get back to normal again.

As far as Vitex goes, it is most affective with long term use. My midwife told me that you can't determine if it's definately working or not until you've used it for 3-6 months consistantly. I personally take a higher does, 1600mg daily, but that is because I have specific problems we're working on.

The typical dosage of Vitex is 800-1200mg daily.
