I know this is a little OT but I wondered if any of you are trying for a particular gender while charting. There are a few methods and theories out there and the one I heard the most about is the Shettles method. But then there is one that is in completely opposite of it. Just curious if any of you know the success rate with these methods.

I have never tried to conceive a certain gender. My kids have been born in boy girl order for some reason. I did have a pretty good idea that Lyndsey was going to be a girl because of when we bd'd though. I think there might be some truth to these methods but to me limiting when you bd also limits your chances of getting pregnant. I think if you are really young and have plenty of time, sure go for it but for me, I like my boys and my girls so I don't have any preferences anyway.

i have also read about the shettles method...it makes sense i guess. i really don't care either way but if you really want one over the other and don't care to wait then i'd say try it...couldn't hurt anything! good luck!!!

I think there has to be more to it than how you time intercourse. I think there may be a little validity to the method but I wouldn't count on it working.

I agree...I'm not sure how much "scientific" proof there is behind those methods. I would worry about missing my chance that month because I'd be trying for a specific gender.

But either way, I'm not not knocking it--to each their own!
