I'm new to the BBT charting. Last month was my first month and my thermometer didn't get here until cycle day 5 so I don't have anything to compare to yet. My question is this, is your temp supposed to stay up while AF is visiting? My temp pre O was 98.2 then after O 98.6-99.0. It dropped three days before AF to 97.3 and then went back up to 98.6. AF was normal other than the fact that the first day was spotting instead of heavy.

Generally your temp will stay low during AF and then rise after ovulation and stay elevated until AF shows again. Are you taking your temperature at the same time each morning and with at least 3 hours of sleep?

Temps durring AF can be really wacky, I never temped untill after AF was gone. My temps were just up and down all week. Unless you have a short cycle it shouldn't be a problem for you to wait if your temps are funny durring AF.

Like the poster above me said, temps during your period can be really erratic. Highs, lows, drops, peaks, etc. For me, I usually have higher temps until around CD 10 or so. Then they are lower until I O near CD 17-19, then high again.

Here's my chart overlay for comparison:

Notice in the beginning of each cycle my temps are high or erratic. My periods only last around 3-4 days, but my temps are still wacky until around CD 10.

Thanks ladies. This was day four and was hardly even spotting so maybe my temps will even out now. I always do my temp between 8:30 and 9:00, i try getting as close to 8:30 as I can every morning.

I agree. I don't usually temp when AF is here though. I don't feel that it is all that helpful. I usually start temping once AF starts to slow down or if I notice EWCM mixed with AF.
