Hi everyone! My name is Karly and I posted here a few times when DH and I were TTC #1. We're now WTTC #2 but I have a quick question for those of you who have little ones and are TTC and/or charting. I started charting this cycle just to get into the swing of things so that when we are ready to actively TTC, temping/charting will be part of my routine. Unfortunately, being able to actually take my temp has been unpredictable because DS has been having rough nights for a little over a month now. If I remember correctly, you're supposed to have at least 3 hours of undisturbed sleep before taking your temp (please correct me if I'm wrong) and that just isn't happening all of the time so my chart is missing info. My question is how do those of you with LOs who are not sleeping well chart successfully? I also chart CM and all that fun stuff but temps are what I really rely on, iykwim.

Oh gosh can I relate. I had the exact same problems when I first started charting. Lyndsey was still nursing and she woke me up a lot. I think you just have to do the best you can with it. A lot of times you can still see a pattern even if it isn't totally accurate. Also I would try to use CM and other fertile signs to help guide you. You might want to use OPKs too.

Welcome back! Glad to have some more charters on the board!!!

I will always set my alarm for 6:30 which is the time in my TCOYF software. If Collin wakes up before then, DH gets him while I take my temp. Usually he wakes anywhere from 5:00-6:45. Rarely he will wake at 4 something. But whenever he wakes up I take an initial temperature. TCOYF will adjust your temperature to a certain point but I am not certain when it will not. I know that some of the 4am ones will not count so on the mornings when he wakes up around 4 I will take my temp twice, once when he wakes and then again when my alarm goes off. I also chart CM and position and do OPK's. My chart this past month looks very normal considering the different times that my temps were taken. You can look at it here. Just go back to my cycle 4 to see last months. Unfortunately when I checked online, it seems that the site will be down until Monday, but you can check back then.

I always temp at my normal time plus whenever Reagan woke up (I started charting when she was 4 weeks old). I noticed she tended to wake up between 5:30am and 6:30am, so I started temping at 5:00am, which fixed our issue.
I'm going to start charting once Liam is here, so hopefully he's a good sleeper.

Good luck when you do start TTC!!
