If you get pregnant. Lyndsey was an unmedicated vbac. I didn't actually plan it that way. I wanted a vbac but my hospital didn't allow vbacs so I was supposed to be having a scheduled csection. Lyndsey came earlier than the scheduled vbac and my labor was fast. By the time the doctor got to the hospital (like 35 minutes from the time I arrived) I was already complete and the nurse had her hand up there keeping her in place. They wouldn't give me anything for pain even though I asked for it at every contractions. I was pitiful but then when it was all said and done I felt exhilarated. I would really like to have a natural childbirth this time, so long as there aren't any big complications.

I don't have any big opinions, because I have no idea what labor will be like. I would love to do it natural, but I won't be too hard on myself if I end up wanting something for pain.

Ive done it twice with nothing, twice with morphine and twice with epidural.

Morphine does NOTHING for pain, but it does make you stupid.

Epidural makes me itchier than heck. Seriously seriously itchy. Dont want to do that again. Wasnt actually planning on it this last time but they encouraged it for my bp and I decided to go with it. I suppose it worked out. He was born feet first and the dr had to reach up inside with both hands and pull his arms down before his head came out, plus there was the part where they discovered he was breech and said, DONT PUSH! .. of course that was at 10cm and my water just broke so the pressure was ENORMOUS. I am thankful for the epidural because, as much pressure and pain as I was having WITH it, it would have been much more intense WITHOUT it. So I guess it worked out.

BUT if I have another, I am hoping to go natural again. It is definitely exhilirating, and I probably feel better (physically) after the birth than when I take something.

Lisa, I did not realize you had six kids! We are trying for number five so I can relate. I don't think we will have any more than that though. My sister has six kids and I know that she is ready for a break. She still may have one more but probably not for a while. I think she wants to enjoy life without babies for a bit.

Yeah, six. They're 9,8,6,4,2 and 4 months old. Are your sister's kids close together in age? Maybe that's why she's looking for a break! lol

How old are yours?

And I am *almost* ready to be done. I found myself being envious of a friend who has four kids (and she is DONE) and her "baby" is 4 years old. I was wondering how nice it would be to be done with the baby stuff. So I am almost positive if we end up with one more, that will be IT!

Her kids range from 16 to 3 so I don't think they are that closely spaced. I think she is ready for a break because she is the mini van mom that spends all day driving kids around and dealing with kid issues. Plus, honestly who wouldn't understand why someone with six kids would want a break. Some days I feel ready to be done myself. I only want one more and definitely no more than that. My kids are a handful and we homeschool so I don't want to bite off more than I can chew.

aww.. I am envious of all of you who do have big families. I wish that we could have a big family here.

I am even more envious of those who do nautral child birth. I soo didnt want an epi until they started my pitocin and broke my water. I was sooo done after that lol. Im glad I got it though because my son didnt come until 12 hours after my epi lol

There is no way I could have done natural childbirth with my first. His labor was like 30something hours long. I was so exhausted by the time he finally decided to come out.

Lyndsey's labor was so fast. By the time I got to the hospital I was at 5 cm and I dilated to ten in like twenty minutes. I was like uh nurse can you please check me again I feel something down there. It was weird because I had never really felt that sensation with my other births. And BELIEVE ME I wanted something for pain. I kept getting really mad at the nurse for not giving me anything. And then I thought they were going to make me have a csection after going through all that pain which would have really sucked. At any rate, I think you can do things you think you can't when you aren't given a choice about it.

I technically had it both ways with Parker. I got an epidural, which completely wore off when I hit 6 cm. As soon as the epidural failed, I went from 6 to 10 cm in under 20 minutes...I seriously thought I was dying! I think the worst part was that I thought I was still only 6 cm, and had a ways to go. They had told me they'd hook me back up...but then it was too late.

So, earlier labor pain free, transition and pushing drug free. In the end, I'm glad it happened the way it did--it would've taken a lot longer to push her out if I hadn't been able to feel everything! Plus, the adrenaline rush of knowing I had done it myself was awesome!
