So DH called today and told me we had storm coming threw and the phone cut off on him the power flicked several times and then I heard a LOUD BAM POP and I ran into the Kitchen and I could see flames and hear electric popping. We must have had an electrical surge and it set the surge protector on fire. I grabbed the cord and yanked it out of the wall and beat the fire out. I then got the girls out ( I was babysitting) When I looked in the back yard a storm ( maybe tornado) came threw knocked a HUGE tree in my yard across the yard on my power lines yanked the pole my lines were attached to threw the roof and left a hole. I was out of power for about 4 hours and our Dishwasher, TV, Sat Box, stove, and microwave are all shorted out. I inhaled a lot of smoke putting the fire out and have a super sore throat tonight and a major headache. The fire dept said everything is OK and I am very lucky I have homeowners because I will need it.

OH and now we see that we do not have central heat and air it is 78 in the house.

Well, I know it's not the best way to spend a day but I'm so pleased nobody was injured seriously (smoke inhalation is no fun )

Wowsers! I would have been freaking out. I think you did an exceptional job handling the situations and am so relieved to hear that nobody was hurt.

Thanks everyone we finally got the AC fixed today after it got up to 89!!! The ins company sent someone out. I have to call an Electrician out and check out ALL of the wiring and pay out of pocket for it then they will pay me back. I am very upset about that. We finally got the tree cut down today and are habign it cut and moved as soon as we can I am not sure if it will be dry enough tomorrow. Oh and to top it off my Uncle passed away today!

Man you are having a tough week. I did see your good news though so I guess there is one little bright spot.

Goodness gracious!! I thought you two and the kids went to a comforty hotel. It looks worst than I imagined. If you are home tomorrow, I may drop by. Give me a call if you are going to be busy.
