I don't tell people I am charting or that we are ttc. Well I tell some people we are ttc but most people I just tell them that we are not trying but not preventing. I just don't like the grief and annoying comments. I understand why people would say THEY couldn't handle five kids but THEY don't have to handle them so why should they care how many we have. I don't know why I get like this but it irritates me. I could understand the comments if we were like the Duggers (which I am not slamming the Duggers. I kinda like them) but I don't feel that four or five kids is really that many.
So getting off the topic but I don't share with people because I don't like to hear large family comments.
I imagine most of you don't have this issue but you may still get comments about it. I don't know.

I do keep it a secret, I don't think my best friend knows, although I said something about taking my temperatures.
I love big families! I want to have 3 kiddies, but my df wants 1 so we settled on 2. I wouldn't mind 4 either, maybe I can twist his arm into having 3 hehe

Yes, I keep charting a secret, because I find most people don't even know what it is or how it works and I get into the weirdest (and most annoying ) conversations about it.
As for telling people I am ttc, yeah, actually I do tell them! This is becasue I have gotten so much grief over how many kids I have, I used to say something like, "no, we're done" and then "gee, oops" when I'd get pregnant again, just becusae i didn't want to hear it anymore! Well, when I was pregnant with #5 dh's family pretty well didn't even acknowledge that I was pregnant, becasue they were so upset. Even when he was born, dh's mom and grama came to the hospital but mil's husband stayed outside the postpartum unit! He wouldn't even come in! I was like, "fine, screw you too."
Sooo we told people we wanted six. When I got pregnant when baby was 15 months old, it actually went over quite well! Go figure. lol But I think because they SAW it coming, they had all that time to get used to it. So now, they're like, "so you're done, now, right?" NOPE! One more, but thanks for asking. They've said things like, "oh my God" or "stop~!" or my dad's comment: "I'm not addicted, I can stop anytime" (in regards to me) Or my favorite was dh's aunt at easter time, when they asked, "are you done yet?" she goes on about someone or other who she knew who had 15 of them, and ended up in a psych ward becsaue it literally pushed her over the edge.
Two things: one, I promise you I'm not having 15 of them. Secondly, I never said I was quite sane to begin with. I think its part of what helps me handle the chaos! lol

I tell all the people in my PR about it and let them know that it isn't as hard as what they would think it is. IRL I don't really go blurting it out too much. When we were TTC Collin I found out that my mom used to temp too which I thought was kinda cool. I don't know if she did the whole CM stuff but she did take her temp. After 2 months of TTC I stopped telling people that we were trying when they asked. I also said, we aren't preventing.

I don't keep it secret per se... I'm not that kind of gal! I'm pretty open and honest about all aspects of me and my life. It's just that the people I spend time with in real life, well, it just would never crop up in conversation in a million years! I don't hang out with other 'Mummies' and my kiddos are kinda grown up now so I don't really know anyone ttc. I suppose if a conversation about contraception popped up I could discuss it in that context, even though that's not my motivation for using it.

I know what you guys mean about it not coming up but when you have four kids people always ask you if you are done. I don't like to say we are trying to certain people because then they just start reasoning with me. I try to just avoid the subject. Really though, I should just take them on but I find it is like talking to a brick wall so why bother.
And, Lisa I am a little crazy myself. LOL.

The only people I have told that we are TTC are my sister, mom & my bestie + a couple friends. My sister, kris, of course is the only one who knows I am charting. I think the others probably wouldn't understand charting and would just be like "what?" lol. I haven't told any one else b/c I don't really want to hear what they have to say about it,lol...like patty said all the annoying comments. Like bout 1 is enough right now blah blah blah. But I fig its our life and we only get to live it once so we might as well make it what we want HAHA I can't wait till Kris tells them she is pg and hopefully followed by me sooooooooooooooooon lol.I will love to see the faces on my parents.lol. As you can tell I find it all very amusing .. we live for the shock factors.lol.

See I do the same thing. My sister and I are twins so I tell her we should get pregnant together and we should have twins on the same day because that would make us super cool. She just rolls her eyes at me... LOL

Not really. That would be me, usually anyway. She has six kids so I think twins are just not her idea of a good time. LOL.

Oh I'm WAY out of the closet about charting. All my family/friends know I'm a NFP Instructor IRL, so I'm sure they make the connection that I probably chart. LOL

My best friend is the only one that even knows that we're somewhat trying. I think I've mentioned keeping track of my temps, but I don't think she fully understands what charting is.

Most of our friends & family know we are TTC. My mom & a few friends know about my charting. I've explained how it works to friends when they ask. My mom & grandmom both charted their temps... so it's kind of a family tradition apparently.
Due to my mom's charting, she actually predicted my sister's birth to the day and was 2 days off for me because I was waitin' for the weekend. HA!!
I can't imagine NOT charting now! LOL!!

I haven't told anyone IRL. DS isn't even 1 year old yet, so I know I'd get "Are you nuts?!". Also, DH & I lost 4 pregnancies before DS. We'd rather keep our TTC/pregnancy a secret because its just too painful to have to tell everyone I misscarried. I doubt we'll tell anyone until 12 weeks or so. LOL

I definitely wouldn't bring it up at work, but I am friends with quite a few moms. I feel like I'm able to talk about stuff like that with them and actually got the idea of charting from one of them (she went to Target with me and found the basal thermometer and gave me a crash course on how to do it). Only in the right environment. Work, with a boss, not so much!

I am so excited to have another baby! DH says not to tell anyone that we're ttc, but I just can't control myself!! Especially when some of my friends are ttc, too! I have told my sister and my best friend. It is REALLY hard for me not to tell my MIL because she's been nagging us to have more like forever!! Lol! I really hope that I get pregnant this month so I can go tell everybody!! I hate keeping all this excitement in!!! Heehee!
