I thought I'd officially introduce myself because if I don't get a BFP this month, I'm sure I'll be pretty active in the upcoming months!

I'm Kristen, mom to 17 month old Walter. He still nurses to sleep for nap and bed and then when he wakes up at night, which is usually between 1-3 times.

I just got my first post partum period when my son was 15 months old, if you can believe it. We decided we wanted another child back in October, so we had been waiting to O and hoping to catch the first egg that whole time.

I think my first period was anovulatory, and the second cycle lasted 41 days. Before having my son, my cycles were very text book- ovulation at CD 14 and 28 day cycles. So I started temping this month, for the very first time, expecting that my cycles would be erratic and crazy for awhile.

I was shocked to ovulate at CD 15 this month! And I am also excited to have made it to an 8 day luteal phase. I was expecting to have a luteal phase defect since I am still nursing. If I can make it to Tuesday without seeing AF, I will be very pleased, even if I don't see a BFP.

Anyway, that's my story. Hope you don't mind if I jump right in.

Your son is VERY adorable, BTW!

Welcome, I'm Lisa, and I'm kind of new around here, too. I have 6 kids, my youngest will be 5 months next week, my oldest is 9. I am very jealous of your normal cycle! I've never really had a problem, but it seems to be taking me a long time to get back to normal. I've had 3 periods, but my lp is NOT normal. First was annov, second lp was 3 days, third lp was 7 days (last cycle) and I am HOPING this month it is normal and I get my bfp! And I DONT breastfeed! I stopped when he was 3 WEEKS old, and supplemented regularly for the last 2 of those 3 weeks. So you'd *think* I'd be "normal" by now.. but maybe it's my old age? (okay, I'm 28, so not really old. But I had my first at 19, and I was pregnant 3 months later, sooooooo what's taking me so long now?)

Anyways. Welcome!

Wow, 6 kids at 28 and trying for #7?

I'm 27 and can hardly manage one.

Maybe your body knows your limits better than you think and doesn't think you can handle another at this point? Are you getting enough rest and eating well? That's the only explanation I could come up with for why it took me 15 months to have a period. My son is pretty high needs, high energy, doesn't sleep well, I don't think my body thought it could sustain a pregnancy while nursing a needy toddler! But he's sleeping better and I'm feeling better, so it makes sense that my body is ready now!

Yeahh... we didn't plan it that way, but here we are. lol I think it's all a matter of what you're used to. I am used to six kids now, so it's normal, ya know? You're not, so it seems like a lot. I remember a conversatoin with a friend when I only had 5 kids, and she said something about her friend with five kids (someone else) and I was like, "FIVE KIDS?!?! Is she flippin' CRAZY?!?"

My friend was like, "uh, Lisa? YOU have five kids." Oh, right. It's just when it's someone else it seems huge! lol

Actually I would say in your case, becasue you're breastfeeding, it is not unusual to not have a period/not ovulate until weaned, especially since he nurses so often, including at night. LAM doens't work for all women, but it often does until they are not drinking too much.

In my case, well, either my body is trying to protect me from myself (because I'd be pregnant by now if my body co-operated) or it's just becuause it is normal for the first few pospartum cycles of any woman to be unpredictable and have a short lp.

Welcome to the board. I was breastfeeding Collin until he was 15 months old but had to stop to get my LP long enough to TTC. I was charting for 3 months before we started to TTC. I went from 3 feedings a day, to 2 and then to 1 and then knew that we would need to stop since my LP wasn't long enough. It took me until Collin was over a year old to get a period back. Good luck!!

Welcome to the board! Yippee another charter!

As for the postpartum AF, I can believe it. My AF never showed until at least a year postpartum with all my kids and some of them later than that. I think your chart looks pretty good for a bfing chart.

I hope you get your bfp soon!
