Ok...the witch is almost gone and the real charting begins. I have been charting for a week or two to get the hang of it...but now, the real thing begins! So, bascially my question is...what normally happens around O? Do temps go up, stay down, drop? I don't want to waste money on OPK's this cycle..they haven't done me any good obviously because I just finished my 3rd unsuccessful cycle. I can usually tell when I am O'ing, just by CM is cramping...but when it comes to temping...I don't know.

Here's my chart....you can see that I have a big drop on the day of O. So usually when I see that, I know I will O or I have O'ed. Then they will do the 3 temp rises. I didn't get CM because of clomid and OPK's only worked once or twice.

ETA: Chart's being dumb

It's really hard to say, everyone is unique. Some women do see a temp drop right before O, but not everyone, so even though it's common, you *may* not get one. I would say, though, if your temp is lower all of a sudden one day, make sure you get dtd! Once O has actually happened, your temp will rise and stay up, and then you will know it has happened. They're looking for three temps that are consistenly higher than your previous six temps.. and that stay there.

GL! It's actually a really exciting thing to watch! lol

Some women get a temp dip on the day before O, some on the day of O, some not at all. Also, it cam vary a bit from cycle to cycle. Temping is really useful for identifying when you have Oed but not always for identifying when you are about to O, if that makes sense? So it's great you can tell when you're Oing from the CM and cramping, and then your temps will confirm when it happens. It's SO exciting to see your temps rising after O!

I get a dip. In April I got a dip the day before O. In May... well, May was all jacked up, I only every got dotted lines for my coverline and I had a short LP. This month I had a dip on O day too, although I haven't gotten my coverline yet.

I think you can get by without the opks. Watch for egg-white cm and o pains. When you start seeing egg white cm start bding at least every other day until you see a temp rise on your chart. Now, like the other gals said you may see a temp dip just before you ovulate. I see this on my charts a lot so if all of a sudden you see a drop in your temps I would start bding because it could mean you are close to ovulating. If you get ovulation cramps I would pay special attention that. Charting isn't as useful for predicting ovulation as it is for confirming it. Paying attention to your fertile signs (cm, cramping, etc) is more important. What charting helps most with is letting you know hey I've o'd I can stop worrying about bding now and just stare at my chart. LOL.

Ok. I can usually tell when I am O'ing by my CM and cramping. The last three cycles I was using the OPK's, would get a positive (or so I thought), and then would have EWCM and cramping on a completly different day than the positive OPKs! I'm going to do what I did with all three of my other pregnancies and watch for my CM to change...it worked three times thus far!
