My cervix is getting lower and starting to close. It was wide open, high, soft on Wed; yesterday it was definitely more closed and more firm, but still high, and today it's lower, firm, and almost closed.

Should I have had a temp shift yet, or maybe it won't come for a couple days after it starts to close?

Here is my chart. I was taking my temp at 8:15 when I started, but then I kept waking up around 7:00. so I started taking it earlier. I don't know what effect that would have on my temps

Anyone?

From your experience, when does the cervix start to lower and close in relation to the temp rise? Before, after, about the same day?

Hey hun, your chart isn't showing up so I can't comment on your temps. I'm not sure of the answer, this is my first month charting etc. I ovulated on monday but my cervix is still very high and open. I read that it can stay high and open for some time after ovulation. Wish I could be of more help. GL

hmmmm... I'm just confused why it is coming down and closing. Maybe it means that I won't ovulate

I must have posted my chart wrong. I still don't really get how to do it. I'll try again

As far as my understanding goes... low, firm and closed is an unfertile state for your cervix. It becomes high, soft and open leading up to and on and a bit after O day. After you've O'd it begins to return to low, firm and closed.

You may be having an anovulatory cycle (a cycle in which you do not ovulate, but still experience bleeding like a period at the end of the cycle). They are common. Lots of women have them... even I've had them.

From looking at your chart, there is clearly no thermal shift, so you can be pretty sure that you have not ovulated yet. It is possible that you will ovulate later in this cycle or you may not ovulate at all this cycle.

While that may give you more questions than you had originally... I hope it helps to answer your original question.

I am not good with checking my CP But high soft and open is a good sign that you are O'ing and what lower and closed is a sign that you are not O'ing maybe you will O late or you just have a slow rise in your temp. Good Luck.

My temp went up this morning, so maybe it was just slow to shift. I knew that high soft and open is a sign that I am about to O, I was just confused why it was coming back down when I hadn't seen a temp. rise yet. We will see what my temp is the next couple of days, but it made me feel better this morning.

Thanks for the replies

Your cp is supposed to be really high and open when you ovulate and then drop back lower and close after you ovulate. I don't really pay attention to CP because I find CM more accurate. I used to check my CP and then I would get all stressed out because my CP was never like what the experts say and I found that depending on the time of day I checked it my CP could be in all kinds of different positions. You are supposed to check it at the same time each day but I don't know I did not find CP as the most useful way to check your fertile signs.
