I am on CD 12, I just started temping on Monday to get in the habit. I am only using a regular digital thermometer that measures to .1 degrees. Does anyone else use this or is a BBT thermometer that measures to .1 degrees really any different? On day 5 of temping my temp has remained constant at 97.7. I have been doing some research and found an article that said: " Some women who are ovulating normally don't experience the classic temperature rise upon ovulation. Instead, their basal body temperature remains constant throughout their menstrual cycle. " Has anyone else experienced this? I have been taking my temp before getting up and at the same time. I even took my temp when I got home from work one day to see if it was different and it was 98.4. I checked out the chart stalking room and noticed all the charts have temp changes every day. Could I be one of those women whose temps remain constant or should I pick up a BBT for my next cycle?

I just use a regular thermometer (to .1) and it's worked just fine for me. My pre-O and post-O temps are different enough that I don't see why I would need a special thermometer that reads to .01.

As for constant temps, I'll sometimes have the same temp for several days in a row (I'm currently on day 3 of 97.5 - actually, looking back through my charts, every cycle I've had a span of a few days that were all the same temp).

Hello! My old thermometer only measured to .1 as well, and that was perfectly fine for temping. I'm currently using one that measures to .01 and although I'm finding the extra detail interesting it's not made a huge difference really. You should be fine with the one you are using

Some ladies do have flat temps, although it can also be a sign that the batteries on your thermometer are starting to run out. Is it a new thermometer?

about having a few days of flat temps - I've had charts where my temp barely changes for a few days too

It's brand new, I just bought it a couple weeks ago. I should be Oing in a few days, I feel like I am anxious for some type of change LOL I guess that will make me feel like something is happening. I even had a dream last night that I woke up to take my temp and it went down a bit, when I woke up I was wondering why ther thermometer wasn't in my hand, I actually thought it happened LMAO!!This is day #5 of 97.7.

I would not use a regular thermometer for charting. While it may work for some gals it is not as accurate and a bbt thermometer is not that much money or hard to find. I order mine online at early-pregnancy-tests.com. I would stick with the thermometer you have though until you finish your cycle. Or if you want to try it out for a cycle or two and see if it works fine for you I think that would be okay but if you find you have a hard time interpreting your chart I would switch thermometers.

I have never read that some women don't see a shift but I think that it sounds possible to me. I think when charting you should use a combination of temps, cm and other fertile signs to interpret your chart. OPKs are useful too.

As for the flat temps, go look at my chart. Mine have been really flat the last five days.
