I need opinions: I just stopped my period like today. I just quit taking low estrogen birth control a week and a half ago. In your opinions, when on this earth will I be fertile?? Any guesses? Should we just do it like bunnies for the next 2 weeks? Lol! Thanks guys!!

It's very simple. You can tell you are getting a cold because your nose starts to run, right? Well, you can also tell when you are fertile because your vagina starts to run. Cervical mucus makes you feel wet. You can BD like bunnies for the next 2 weeks if you want to, but what if your fertility doesn't start until after that? The first few cycles off the Pill can be irregular and ovulation might occur very late in the cycle.

If there's no cervical mucus yet, sperm die in your body within about 30 minutes. If there is cervical mucus, sperm can live in your body up to 5 days waiting for ovulation to occur.

So follow your body. Your body will tell you when it's possible to get pregnant because the cervical mucus will arrive.

Okay, this is TMI, but I always have some CM. How do I know it's ovulation and not just everyday kind?

Well, the easiest way would be to work with a charting instructor. That way you can learn to interpret your mucus patterns correctly. Every woman's CM patterns are unique to her, so that's why having a teacher is handy - she would help you figure out what's actually fertile for you and what isn't. There are live classes and online courses you can take.

Some women have infertile discharge all the time. This is VERY common on the Pill and for awhile after wards, because the Pill causes chemical damage to the parts of the cervix where mucus is produced...resulting in less of the good quality CM and more of the infertile discharge. To tell the difference, you simply need to keep a daily record of your observations. Don't rely on FF for that part though, it doesn't have enough mucus options in it's menu. If you use FF to temp, you can write down your observations in more detail for a better mucus record. After 2 -4 weeks of charting, you can figure out what's fertile for you and what isn't.

I think once you have been charting a while you will start to be able to tell your fertile cm from regular cm. I get very very dry after I ovulate. I think it is because I am getting old. LOL. But I can tell I am ovulating because I get ovulation pain. I would try to pay attention to all your fertile signs. Also, to help you out I would invest in some ovulation tests. You can get them online for pretty cheap. I buy mine from early-pregnancy-tests.com but there are other sites that sell them too.
