Defective/Old OPK?

I've been on vacation the past week and when I know I'm going to be Oing when I'm away, I take a few OPK's with me in my toiletries bag. I took one Friday and it was not +, but the test line was there. I took one Saturday and there was almost no test line at all. And I took one this morning and it was definitely +. Usualy, the test line steadily gets darker as I approach O so it was odd to have a line, then none, then a full +. I think it's possible that I might have grabbed an old OPK from last month that I'd accidently left in the bag (I was away at O time then too) so maybe with all that air exposure it went bad.

It's not a huge deal, but I'm really hoping I O'd yesterday (I'm not "scheduled" to O until Monday or Tuesday). We BD'd Wednesday, Friday, and twice yesterday (happy 4th! lol

) but with BF going back to work tomorrow after a week's vacation, I don't think he's going to be up for any more BDing this week. My temp did drop down to 97.2 for 3 days then mini-jumped up to 97.6 today so hopefully my temp will keep going up and show that I did O yesterday (despite the almost not-there test line on the OPK).

Anyway, guess I'll have to wait and see what tomorrow's temp does.

I don't know the answer but I'm curious about expiration dates too. When I was looking on ebay, of course some were expired and they all said it's ok to use them past their date, but I'm thinking they want to sell their stuff to make money, if I were them I'd say it's ok too!

Maybe you caught your surge on the way down on CD 14?? I hope you caught your eggie!!!

I've used them past the expiration date before. A couple cycles ago I experimented and used both an old one and a new one and they gave pretty much the same result, but that was with them being kept in the little plastic container w/a lid. If this one was an old one, it was just sitting in a cloth bag for a couple months and exposed to a lot more air.

Anway, it looks like I'm probably Oing today because my temp dropped to 96.8 I'm going to try to seduce BF into BDing tonight, but I'm not counting on it since this is his first day back to work in a week and I have to go somewhere tonight. So unless it's an early afternoon BD, it's not going to happen.

I agree. I think that temp drop combined with the positive opk sounds like you are about to ovulate to me. I hope you can get some bding in today! Good luck!

I'm going to try to get him to BD today. Maybe I can convince him to go swimming to relax (our apartment complex has a pool) then when we're done and changing out of our bathing suits, seduce him.

Well, he's just not in the mood so hopefully late Sat night/early Sun morning (2am ish) was good enough. Not getting my hopes up this cycle, though.

Guess I didn't O yesterday. Temp is still down and OPK is still developing, but already the test line is twice as dark as the control line. Guess I'll have a second chance at the seduction.

Hmmm . . .

It rose from 96.8 to 97.2, but that's still a bit low and I had an insanely + OPK today. I'm guessing my coverline will be around 97.4 or 97.5 so FF may not say I O'd until today. I'm actually thinking I might have O'd last night at around 10pm because I was having somewhat strong pains on my left side about 4" below my belly button (not sharp knife stabbing, but not cramps either). So I'm guessing that was O pain.

Hopefully we got it covered.
