I've got the fever BAD! I went shopping for a friend's baby shower gift today. I usually spend between $50-100 on a gift, depending on who the mommy-to-be is. Well, I worked with this friend pretty closely for about a year, so we're pretty good friends, but not like best buds or anything. I know I miss her a lot- but I miss all of my old co-workers a lot. So DH knew I had this shower coming up, and he was like "Try to only spend $20." He kept drilling it into my brain to keep a $20 budget, and I really was set on it. I was going to get her one $20 item.
Well.... I spent over $100. And that's AFTER I took a long evaluation of my cart and put things back. I was at the store for three hours gushing over baby things. Thank God my mom called me and said she wanted to meet me for dinner right then, because I would have been there until the store closed I'm sure...
I think there were two driving forces. The first was that my friend is having a little girl. I never get to shop for little girls! I have a niece, but my sister never uses any of the things that I buy for her, so I stopped. For a long time, it seemed like every shower I went to was for a baby boy, and it was fun shopping for pink lace for a change! The other reason I couldn't stick to my budget is because I'm waiting to test. I'm making myself wait for one more week of high temps before testing, but it's sooo hard to wait. I mean testing now won't do anything for me, I know I need to wait, but I just wish that this weekend were NEXT weekend KWIM? So all this waiting has my brain in "BABY BABY BABY" mode.
