Hey ladies. I'm feeling a bit nervous right now. You know how I got a high temp yesterday? (And it's high again today, 98.8 F.) Well, I thought that I had already read and understood the info pamphlet that came with the bbt thermometer, but this morning I was re-reading it and there's a small italicized portion that says, "Note that your temperature tends to rise about two tenths of a degree per hour that you take it later than usual."
I swear that I don't remember reading/understanding that before today. I might have even skipped over that part because I was thinking, "Oh, I already know what to do." See, I thought that it was just important to take it as soon as you wake up, with at least three hours of sleep beforehand. That's what really stuck out in my mind: don't do anything after you wake up---just take the temp and record it.
Well, after reading that, I thought about how I've temped these past two days, and since I didn't have to work, I've slept in. Yesterday, I didn't temp till 10:30 am. And today I didn't temp till 11 am. Does that mean that my temp isn't as high as I thought it was? I usually temped around 7:30-8:30 am before having to wake up for work. So, two tenths of a degree an hour would put me at only about 98.1 to 98.2. Is that still enough of a jump to count as O?
I'm scared. Yesterday was my 20th birthday, and since I had gotten such a nice temp jump, we made love twice and didn't pull out. We're not TTC until October. What if I screwed up majorly and I haven't even O'd yet?! I don't want to disappoint him by making it look as if I tried to get preggo on purpose, because I definitely didn't. This is terrible...
What do you ladies think? My Ovulation Chart is at the bottom of my siggie.

Afraid I'm not gonna be much help... It's kinda hard to tell since you've got like 4 missing temps.
Maybe some of the other ladies might be able to give you a better guess.
Since you're just learning how to temp, I think it would be fair to explain to him that you just made a mistake. But if it's meant to be... it's meant to be.
Good Luck!

Thank you, Coley. I just feel really bad about it, because he knows how much I can't wait to be a mom, and I don't want him to think that I did this on purpose. Of course we would be happy, but it's just not the right timing (which is why we're waiting till this October, with the wedding and all). I mean, it's only a couple months away, but still... I'm actually hoping I'm not, so that he knows that he can trust my judgment.

I completely understand where you're coming from! You'd have to have your dress altered to accommodate your bump!! LOL!! While it would be an additional expense... in a way I'm sure it'd be a happy one.

Exactly! And while it'd not only be an extra expense, I just want to feel really good on our wedding, and I know that, a couple months in, I'd probably feel pretty nauseous, and there would be doctor appts, etc. But more importantly, I know that him doing this the way that he feels is "the right way" is being married first and THEN announcing a pregnancy. I mean, given the choice, I feel the same way, and I'm actually glad that we haven't had any oopsies until now (even though I would have been happy about it, lol). So, I hope that I didn't mess up royally.

Well I don't think there is a lot you can do about it. If you did get pregnant, he will probably think whatever he is going to think regardless. That has been my experience with men anyway. I also think if he doesn't want to have a baby right now that the responsibility should not fall solely on you. I do think there is a good chance things will work out okay. Even though you slept in your temp is still up pretty high and it looks like your cm has dried up so it probably is not your most fertile day. But, I think maybe you should talk about using a back up birth control until you are officially trying to conceive. This way you aren't stressing out.

Thanks, Patty. I've actually just ordered a free sample of VCF, which should be coming in the mail soon. Because I don't like the way that condoms feel, we rarely use them. We generally just use the pull-out method. So, we'll see how we like VCF, and if it feels okay, I'll order a full supply. But I think I'll be okay too... My CM has dried up, and I am kinda late in my cycle... yeah, I'll be okay. Thank you!

I hate condoms too! That is one of the reasons I like charting. I have used the VCF and did not have any problems with it. I think if you use it along with charting it would work great. It isn't as effective as other forms of birth control so I might suggest using the pull out and VCM when you are fertile and not worrying so much when you are not.

That sounds like a good plan to me, Patty! I can't wait for it to come in the mail.

it appears to me that the sex occurred after you o'd, so you're probably in the clear.

Hey ladies! Just an update! I think I'm still good, because this morning we had to leave early for our mini vacation, so I took my temp at 5:45 in the morning, and it was still high, at 98.5. So, I think that's good.
