Could you see your thermal shift pretty easy to spot?
What kind of mistakes did you make with your first chart?
Had you read anything first about charting or did you just jump right in?

Yes, I noticed the thermal shift right away, it was a pretty large shift. What I did wrong was charting my CM wrong. I didn't really know what EWCM looks like then, so I mistook the stretchy creamy CM for EW. Now I know hehe I read some about it before I signed up for an account. I even got an application on my ipod touch, and started charting there first, and then few days later I got an FF account

When I first started, all I was doing was taking my temp and writing it down. I wasn't tracking CM or anything, and I wasn't even "charting" my temps. I never saw the pattern until I got my FF account and then went in and put in all the temps from all those months ago. That's when I saw that I had some anovulatory cycles and some really short LP's.

That's when I started tracking my CM and everything... since then it's been pretty clear, although my thermal shifts were not as big then as they have been the past 2 months. Not sure what that's about, if anything... but there you are.

It took me a little while to figure out how to chart CM too. I think I was over complicating it.

I think that would make it harder to figure out. My charts have been looking better for the last few months too. Not sure why but I am not complaining!

I could see the shift pretty clearly. I had read a little bit about it before hand but learned more as I started temping and going through my cycle. My mistake was beleiving that my thermometer stored the temps. It said on the package that it did but when I had 5 days in a row of the same temp I played around with it and realizied it doesn't. It always falls back to 97.7 after it turns off no matter what temp was there. Still though - knowing that I still had 4 or 5 days in the beginning of this cycle that were all flat temps. They are just starting to shift around now, maybe cause I am about a week out from Oing.

I did that too with the thermometer I have now. The one I had before stored temps that was why I was confused.

This was my first chart. You see how many temps I missed. My darn kids were making this difficult. That was one mistake. The other mistake was that I quit charting. I couldn't see my thermal shift so I decide charting was stupid and quit. Well I ended up charting the next cycle and I got my bfp. I think my biggest thing was that I wasn't patient. If I had been I would have learned my own patterns and realized that a lot of my charts have a fall back rise pattern.

Help me out here, Patty... What's that?

My first chart with last month & I think I saw the thermal shift pretty easily. I did a lot of research when we were TTC#1 (we TTC'd for 2 years), so I had an idea what I was doing when I started. The issues I have are 1) A nine month old, so wake-up times are not consistant 2) my cycles were short (23-25 days) pre-baby so I was expecting to O a lot sooner than I did & 3) I only have a right tube, so I never know what side I'm going to O from.
