Hello ladies! How is everyone today?

So I'm now headed into month 4 of doing oral temping and have yet to get a grasp on my pattern. Granted, I have been doing only temping (not checking CM or anything), but I'm thinking that my sleeping pattern is affecting my waking temperature. So for that, I'm considering doing vaginal temping with my next cycle. Has or does anyone do this? Is there anything that I should know other than just, well, taking my temp? I do know to start at the beginning of a new cycle because vaginal temps will be higher than oral and will look like O has happened when it hasn't.

Any help that you all can provide is greatly appreciated!

Your sleeping pattern will affect your temps even if you take them vaginally. Whether you do it orally or vaginally, the important thing is to take it at the same time each morning after at least three hours of sleep.

Wow, I'm glad I asked because from what I'd read somewhere online it said that sleep wouldn't affect vaginal temps. They said to take it at the same time each day, but that was it. Thank you for letting me know.

According to Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler, it still needs to be a waking temp, regardless of oral or vaginal method.

I really need to get that book. Every time I turn around someone is either saying something from it or directing me to it for answers. But in the meanwhile until I DO get it, thanks for letting me know, it's greatly appreciated!

I agree. Your temp will be higher or lower depending on where you temp but moving around will affect your body temperature regardless of where you take it. But you might still want to consider doing it to see if it gives you an easier to read chart. It is worth trying.

I would try to find a time to temp that you can get three hours of sleep even if it means getting up at 2 or 3 in the morning to temp.

The 1st month I charted I took my temps orally but they were all over the place (I sleep w/ my mouth open alot because I can'tbreath through my nose very good). The vaginal temps were much more accurate and I did still test at the same time every morning and had at least 3 hours of sleep.
