Ok so I have charted with just temps for a long time and rarely used OPK's but I want to 'not think' about the space betwen ovulation and AF so much so want to switch to just OPK's. Well, last cycle and this cycle I have been doing both (to see if the OPK's are confirmed by the temps) but I want help with last cycle.

Here's my chart: http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/1ed85b (look at 2nd chart)

Basically I took my temp twice on CD14. The first temp I took, which was after a longer deeper sleep but earlier than my usual temp-taking time was low and puts my ovulation as CD14 (a first for me!) but also the same day as the + OPK. The second temp was higher but my sleep would have been more shallow and puts my ov day as CD15, day after + OPK which I figured was 'normal' so left it at that (until today).

I know it doesn't seem that important as I didn't concieve but I have a short luteal phase and was pretty down that it was my usual 8 days to AF so a 9 would show a small improvement (as I have stopped nursing 6wks ago it would show something happening) Plus I am starting tests at the docs next cycle and keep a record of my LP so want to know if it was 8 or 9?

Its only cos I read today that your ovulation CAN be same day as OPK that I am wondering! I allways thought ov was '12 - 36' hrs after a + OPK?

Hi. Im Jolene. 31 years old. I suffered three years of a short luteal phase and didnt think I could get pregnant again without medical assistance but fell pregnant by accident and naturally. I am really happy and excited to be having a baby although knowing Im going it alone this time is a bit daunting and scary!

You can O the same day you get a + OPK. I would leave the first temp there because it was uninterrupted and just record the different time in FF. My LP wasn't that long either so I started taking B6 vitamins to see if it will help. Here's hoping!

OK, thanks! To be honest the second temp went over my coverline so figured that was odd before ovulation but because of the + OPK thought making FF say CD15 was my ov must be right.

I started taking 200mg B6 in March and got a 10 and 11 day LP - but for some reason it dropped back to short again. Hope it works for you though - I've read lots of good things about it.

And hey, I like your readings! Be interesting to see which comes true!

I think you should go with CD15 as your o date. Taking your temp at different times can cause your temp to go up or down. For every hour extra you sleep your temp goes up by .2 degrees. This is why they recommend taking your temp at the exact same time. I think the reason your temp was higher was because you slept later and not necessarily related to when you ovulated.

You also had the positive opk on CD14. It is unusual to ovulate on the same day you get a positive opk but not out of the question. If you caught the surge after it started, say your surge started while you were sleeping, you could ovulate on the same day.

I think it is possible that you o'd on CD14 but CD15 sounds more right to me. Have you considered taking Vitex or vitamin B6 to try to lengthen your luteal phase?

Yep, been taking vitex since Dec and B6 since March. No help, besides the B6 for the first 2 cycles.
Thanks for the advise. That was my reasoning too,
