hi

well they always say that you are suppose to have 3 hours of sleep for temp to be accurate.

my question is:

i went to bed at 12 am on 5 dpo and took my temp at 3:25 am on 6 dpo.

thats almost 3 and a half hours sleep.

i set my alarm for 4 hours just to be sure.

if i slept for 3 and half hours then would it be accurate then and no need for an open circle?

here is my chart:

277b11 Ovulation Charts

thanks

I don't know anything about the open circle part, but since you did get at least 3 hours of sleep prior, I'd say that looks like an implantation dip! Keep us posted!

I think Patty once said that every extra hour you sleep, your temp rises 0.2 degrees. I would definitely keep the open circle on that chart. Let's hope that it is implantation dip

The chart looks really promising.

When you are charting for fertility, it is important that you get 3 consecutive hours of sleep before you take your temperature but it is just as important that you take your temperature at the same time each day. I think you'd be better off leaving an open circle if you took your temp at regular time without three consecutive hours of sleep than temping at a different time because it followed three consecutive hours of sleep. That way, your temps can be connected day to day and show a pattern. What time did you take your temps on the other days? If you took it at say, 7:00 AM but took the 6 DPO one at 3:25 AM, you'd have to "correct" the temp to reflect the time when you'd usually take it (the rule is generally 1/10th of a degree per half hour. So if you usually temp at 7:00 but took it at 3:25 that day, it would be "corrected" to about 98.3

Does that make sense?

I agree with the other girls. I think that it is almost more important to take your temp at the same time every day. It is hard to control how well you sleep but you can plan to get up at the same time every day. Try not to sweat it if you have open circles. It is better if you don't but you can't always control life. My chart has open circles on it a lot and I can still see a pattern.

Aim for getting three hours of sleep and taking your temp at the same time every day. If it doesn't happen keep it as an open circle.
