Sorry for yet another CM question. Today, I started off with what I think is EWCM. As the day has progressed I have had more CM than normal, not a lot more, but its definitly more. Well the CM I have had this afternoon is more white/yellow and kind of clumpy. It stretches, but I dont think its quite EWCM. I also have some watery CM mixed with it. Any ideas? Thanks!

Generally, if I'm not mistaken, the cervical fluid/position data you log on FF should be checked at the same time every day. You can check that stuff throughout the day to see if it's changed at all, but I don't believe you are meant to change your data on your chart.

For example, I temp at 7:15 then I use the bathroom, check my cervical fluid and position. Those are the stats I log for the day. If my cervical fluid or position changes during that day, I do not change my data. That would make it inconsistent and not an accurate comparison to the next day's data.

If I'm misinformed, I stand ready to learn and be corrected.

Ok, you are probably right. I know you are supposed to check at the same time with your CP. Ok, I will keep it then. Thanks! I am sorry I always have a thousand questions!

Yes, and FF also says to mark it as the most fertile CM visible. So if you see some creamy mixed with some watery...go with watery.

I always thought you were supposed to check your CM every time you go to the bathroom (I usually do it only 3 times a day though) and you record the most fertile you have seen that day. So if it's creamy in the am, but EWCM in the PM, you record EWCM. That ensures that you don't miss a fertile opportunity.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that you can't check your CM at various points through the day and if you see fertile CM you should certainly act on it.

Personally, I do not change my data throughout the day. I feel that I'm better able to gauge changes from day to day that way. I am certainly no expert... perhaps I've gotten the whole "same time every day" thing ingrained into my brain with everything.

That is how I do it too. I think if you see fertile CM during the day that it means you are fertile that day. I do check my CP consistently at the same time but if I notice EWCM on a given day I chart it as EWCM even if it was creamy earlier. I am going to see if I can find some more info on this because I want to be sure I am providing the most accurate information.

Okay I found a good link on this. I check my CM through the entire day. I always record the most fertile CM I see during the day.

Fertility Friend says this:

Quote:
Always record your most fertile type of cervical fluid, even if you noticed more than one type of cervical fluid in a given day or even if it is scant. This is so you will not miss a potentially fertile day and so that you have a consistent way of keeping track of your cervical fluid from cycle to cycle.
Fertility Friend Handbook - Fertility Charting For Pregnancy Achievement

I am going to add this to our CM FAQ link on the charting school too.
