Started spotting last night.............AF is not expected until Friday if my LP is going to be 14 days long but I usually spot for 2-3 days before AF starts.

I am very disappointed because my chart was looking so good up until a couple days ago I know this is only our 1st month really trying but still. I haven't been on bcp for over a year so you'd think an accident would have happened by now!

Anyways - does anyone know if it's "ok" that I spot for 2-3 days before AF starts? I read online that I could have low progesterone which would be bad if I did get pregnant, right? Maybe I need to call my Doc today to see if there is anything I can do.

Thanks for all your help ladies - Here's to next month!

I'm sorry about the starting to show a bit.

I'm really not sure about the spotting thing. I'll leave that one for Patty to try and answer once she logs on... she's got more experience under her belt than I do, so she might have an answer for ya.

(((HUGS))) I have read the same thing before about spotting, but I have only seen this online so I don't know how accurate this info is. But, I kind of think there may be some truth to this. I don't have a lot of spotting before my AF but I have a lot after my AF and I do take progesterone supplements when I am pregnant.

But, your LP looks pretty good which makes me think you have a strong ovulation/healthy corpus luteum. The corpus luteum is what produces progesterone until your placenta takes over later in pregnancy.

I think if you have been off bcp for a year and haven't been preventing, it would be a good time to go see your doctor. I would just tell them what's going on. They can easily run a blood test to check your progesterone levels and then you will know. Plus, I think it is a good idea to have a preconception check up anyway.

Anyways - we'll see what happens between now and then I guess.
