Any opinions would be helpful.

Last cycle I was using a normal thermometer, and this cycle I switched to the BBT thermometer (Target brand). Well, my post-O temps have been kind of low (which could be just a result of not taking Clomid), so just for comparison's sake I have temped a couple times now with both thermometers... and they are consistently .5 degree off from each other! The BBT thermometer is always lower. I kept it in my tent while camping and it got pretty hot in there, is there a chance its broken? I don't know which one to believe!

From what I hear the BBT is the more accurate one. I also just bought the target brand BBT. Was on sale too. So I will be taking my temps soon. Hopefully I can get it right since it kinda confuses me.

Thanks for responding Ladybug... I am so sorry for your recent loss.

I had heard they were more accurate... but I thought that meant since it measures hundreths of a degree, not because other thermometers are a whole half degree off! You know?? Ugh, I am so confused... Guess I will have to buy a THIRD thermometer to see which one is more correct.

Yeah BBT's are more accurate, I bought one from CVS (CVS brand) but anyone who is looking to get one don't get it from CVS, the thing doesn't beep like it is supposed when its done reading your temp. I have to go cross eyed and watch for the Fahrenheit F to stop blinking, lol! I think I'll invest in a new one next cycle

Thermometers can vary on their readings. I think I would finish your cycle with the thermometer you were using and then start the next with your BBT. Switching thermometers can mess up your chart. I don't think it is abnormal to get different readings on different thermometers. I would switch to a BBT thermometer and use it consistently. If you don't feel good about this one try to get another one before your next cycle so you can use the same thermometer throughout.

Okay...

Mandy - I do not think the heat from your tent broke your BBT. I think that you may be seeing slightly lower temps due to not being on Clomid. However your temps are still quite a ways above your cover line, so I wouldn't be too concerned. My post-o temps are not always in the same range... and I'm not on any drugs... so I really wouldn't worry yourself.

Ladybug - If there are particular questions or parts that you don't understand... I'd be happy to try and answer or explain them to you. I know it can feel a touch overwhelming at first... but it's really quite easy once you get it down. Let me know if I can be of any help at all!!

Wantababy2010 - It does sound like something is not quite right with your BBT. It should beep so you can just sit back and not strain or take it out of your mouth to see if it's done blinking. I bought the Rite Aid brand BBT for $10 bucks and it's worked perfectly for me. If you've got a Rite Aid around, you might wanna check them out.
