I bought a basal therm, and today is my 2nd day of my period and I really wanna start trying the basal temp to see if i am ovulating but i read that it's really important to take it first thing in the morning, before getting up and going pee even, and my problem is i go pee all night long, as well as move around alot nursing my daughter, and letting the dog out to pee so can this still be a reliable method for me? any tips? please help, i wanna start asap and really wanna get preggo by the end of september god willing. thanks!

Hi there! It is recommended that you have 3 hours of uninterrupted sleep before temping, but I think that if you generally have the same pattern each night that you will still get an accurate pattern as long as you take your temp at the same time. For instance, if you are up to nurse or let the dog out at 4 a.m. each morning, then just take a minute to temp then each day. The only reason for the 3 hour recommendation is because they are assuming that most people sleep throughout the night on a regular basis and without the minimum amount of sleep, your temp for that day would be off if you'd been active at a time when you normally aren't.

I hope that you decide to stick around here and get to know everyone on the board. The girls here are really friendly and very helpful and knowledgeable.

You can still chart. It is a little more challenging when you are dealing with nursing and waking up but it can be done. I charted when I was nursing Lyndsey and that girl used to wake me up constantly. LOL. Just try to pick a time to temp when you are the most rested. You should still be able to get an idea of what is going on. It is a bit more challenging but you can do it.

Welcome to the board! I can't wait to start stalking your chart!

If you have any questions please ask. We love new charters over here and like answering questions so don't be shy.

V temping means you temp vaginally instead of orally. If you decide to try vaginally temping you will want to stick with that all the way through your cycle. (I would think you would do that anyway because you probably wouldn't want to use it orally after that. LOL. But figured I should mention it just in case.)

Let us know when you get a chart set up so we can start looking at it!
