What does it mean when FF plots your temp with an open dot, instead of solid blue and puts an * for CM??

Generally the open circle happens if you mark yourself as sleep deprived for that day.

If you mark "spotting" under Menses/Spotting, then you get the *. Maybe they think it looks like a spot?? LOL Seriously though, those are the things that I know for sure to cause that to happen. Someone else may be able to give you another reason for the open circle, but the * is definitely if you choose spotting for the day. Hope this helps!

I get an open circle when I wake up and temp earlier or later than usual.

That makes sense. I am off work today so didn't have to get up, so when I woke up to pee at 6am I temped, so I didn't have to wake up again 6:30, so it was 1/2 hr earlier than normal. And AF is on her way out so I marked spotting.

The open circle on your chart denotes that you have taken your temp at a time that is different than your normal temping time.

The asterisk (*) in the CM area denotes spotting.
