Basically what the title says.

If you see a temp shift, does that 100% mean you actually O'd?
Or is it possible to get the temp shift without actually having released an egg?

It is possible that you didn't O, I had a temp shift and 4 days later my temp went back down. It looked like my body tried to O but didn't for some reason. If your temps stay up for most of the luetal phase I would say you ovulated.

There is something called LUF (I think that's it) where your temps look like you O'd, but the egg did actually get released from the follicle. You can google it. I think it's pretty rare. So seeing the temp shift is a GREAT sign but doesn't 100% guarantee you released the egg. Here's a basic link

LUF Syndrome

Thanks for the info.

We've been TTC since January and haven't had any luck so far and we're both thinking something may be wrong, but I know that most doctors won't see you until you've been TTC for at least a year. Plus, since I've been laid off, I don't have health insurance so I can't see a doctor right now anyway (I have a promising job interview on Tuesday, though). BF has insurance, but I'm not sure what it would cover by way of fertility treatment/testing.

So in the mean time, I'm just trying to read as much as I possibly can to try to figure out/eliminate any potential infertility issues I might have on my own.

So far I'm almost positive I'm ovulating since I have regular cycles, temp shift, can get +OPK's, etc.

I get plenty of EWCM around O time so I don't think that's likely a problem.

I'm pretty sure I don't have PCOS or Endometriosis (never had any of the symptoms and like I said, I have fairly regular cycles).

And also because I have a decent sustained temp shift, regular cycles, etc, I don't think I have a progesterone deficiency.

I know there could be a lot more causes (I could very well have blocked tubes or other hormone problems, bad eggs, etc or it could be something on BF's end) but I'm just trying to eliminate as many things as I can so that if it does come down to seeing a doctor in a few months, I'll be more informed and we might possibly be able to move things along a little more quickly.

If anyone can think of any other common infertility problems that I can research, I'd appreciate it.

Sometimes it just takes a while, even for perfectly fertile gals. I know it took us over a year to get pregnant with Jeremy and you can tell by the number of kids I have that we don't have fertility issues (well we do now). Just try to keep timing things well.

If you don't get pregnant in the next few months I would suggest that both you and your BF get checked out because sometimes it is the guy or sometimes it is a combination issue.

Yeah. We both just really feel the clock ticking (I'm 29 and he's 32 - he really wants a baby before he's 34).

I have a job interview tomorrow and I'm pretty sure I'm going to get it so at the very least, I should have health insurance again by Dec (usually a 90 day wait for benefits) and money will be better so we can maybe see about having some tests for BF done soon (he does have insurance, but we still have to pay 20% for most things and I'm not sure if fertility testing is even covered).
