I breath through my mouth pretty much every night, could this affect my chart and make it look like I didn't O when I did. Or would my temps just be a bit lower?

I started out temping orally but then read that if you breath through your mouth that you should temp vaginally so the next month I started doing it vaginally with much better results.

Same with me my temps were always off so that is how I chart now to and it is working much better for me. Good Luck.

interesting, I have sinus issues and end up mouth breathing when I sleep sometimes...I wonder if it will be effecting my temps. I just started charting this cycle.

Vaginal temping is more accurate in general if you don't mind doing it that way. If you are a mouth breather it's something to seriously consider. Breathing through your mouth can make a big difference in your temp and the amount of time you breathe through your mouth each night can make your temps even harder to read.

I know at the hospital that if you eat or drink something hot or cold, they wait 10 minutes to take the temperature orally. Seemed like that meant that's how long it takes to get an accurate reading. The question is: would laying perfectly still for 10 minutes with your mouth closed affect your BBT? I mean, would it be off because you took it 10 minutes after waking, even if you didn't move a muscle?

I haven't read a lot on this. I have heard that it can make your chart less accurate. If you find your chart is hard to read, I would try vaginal temping.

I don't know how I breathe when I sleep.

Once you wake up your temp starts to change. For some women the change is drastic, for others it isn't. It could make a difference of a couple of degrees though so taking it immediately is the best way to have an accurate reading.
