Ok, here's how it is for me...

Dry is well, dry. I don't get many dry times, but it's pretty obvious when I do. I tend to get this a few days after AF if I get it. (Never tracked it, just noticed along the way.)

Sticky CM is kinda thick feeling, but not actually thick if that makes sense. When I was checking my cervix it was actually kind of difficult to insert my fingers because even though I was wet, it was harder to get my fingers to slide in. This kind of CM dries up quickly on your fingers and if I rub my fingers together, it kind of balls up into little pieces that are crumbly like. I get this at various times through my cycle with no apparent rhyme or reason for it.

Creamy is as I've heard so many say before, like hand lotion. It is usually whitish or has specks of white in it. This stuff I can just rub around between my fingers and it feels just like lotion would. It doesn't dry right away but it doesn't clump or stretch at all. I tend to get this in the week or so leading up to AF

Watery is very thin and slippery. It's very easy to check my cervix when I have watery CM and when I rub my fingers together they just glide over each other. It's similar to how lubricant feels and looks. I think I get this during and after O for the most part (for like 2 days), but I do occasionally get it at other times throughout my cycle.

EWCM is thicker than any of the other CM that I get. It varies in color from clear, to white tinged, to yellow tinged. (And apparently for one bathroom trip today, orange tinged! LOL) It's very stretchy and feels like (ok, no laughing here, this was the best I could come up with) slime...like the stuff you can buy out of the gumball type machines. It's slippery but stays solid when you rub your fingers together, unlike watery which just disperses itself when you do this. I tend to get EWCM both before O and before AF.

I hope this helps...and I hope I'm recognizing it correctly myself!

My cm doesn't seem to follow the rules.

Right after AF, I have a day or two of really heavy slippery cm (i'm assuming cleaning the rest of AF out. The next part of the cycle, is dry or sticky. I notice very little on the pantyliner, maybe some dry streaks of yellow or white, and when checking my cevix, i'm only left with a film on my finger. I choose dry or sticky based on this film.
When start to get fertile, things get slippery. I can tell when walking around or when I wipe. Some times I feel it "falling out" and have to go to the bathroom again. This cm is usually clear and thin. I don't think I get true EWCM.
After O, my cm is thick and white and lotiony. It usually coats my finger after a cervix check. This is my most obvious kind of cm.

I don't notice that much cm these days. I will have ewcm and watery and usually that is about it. Sometimes I notice creamy cm.

I think Michelle posted a good description of all the cm types.

Ok this has helped me a bunch!!!!

I am still new....but this is what I have observed thus far:

I had a day of creamy....there was some streaks of white in my CM, but there wasnt a lot.
Then on my sticky day, it was clear and sticky.
Then the past few days I have been super wet. I can usually tell its watery when my finger easily glides in. I have also had some stretchy CM...but it doesnt look like my last month's EWCM, so I havent recorded it because I am confused

Yea, I am not help! Sorry!

Bear in mind that every woman's cervical mucus patterns are unique to her and won't necessarily be the same as another woman's. Also, if you're going by Fertility Friend - also bear in mind that it has REALLY limited mucus descriptions. It's meant to just give you the basics, but it's not unusual for a woman's CM observations to not fit their descriptions at all.

What's most important is how the mucus makes you feel. You can feel mucus even when there isn't enough to see yet. So anytime you notice feeling wet or lubricated while going about your day, that's the CM! Consider it highly fertile. What it looks like is secondary, how it makes you feel is more important!

Don't worry about what you think it's supposed to be like, just record what you feel and see. If your descriptions don't fit with FF's options, you may want to try another charting system that allows for more comprehensive CM observations (like Ovusoft, Cycle Pro, Billings).

Here's some more information on observing CM from a different perspective than FF.
