hi

i don't and never have douched before.

hubby thinks that since i don't douche is why we haven't gotten pregnant yet.

is that true that if you don't douche that you can't get pregnant?

what if i tryed it the day i ovulate this month will it help get the boys up into the uterus?

thanks

Oh, no! LOL If you needed to do that to get pregnant, God would have supplied them. You don't need to douche. You might try a sperm friendly lube if you use a lot of that. How long have you been trying?

This may be a stupid question...but exactly what IS douching? I have always wondered... sorry if I am a bit naive.

The vagina is a self cleansing organ, there is no need for douching! It also has nothing to do with being able to conceive or not.

Couples with healthy fertility take an average of 6-12 cycles to conceive. If you're recovering from a hormonal contraceptive, it can take a bit longer to fully recover.
Some conceive sooner, some take a bit longer...but 6-12 cycles is considered perfectly NORMAL for couples with healthy fertility.

DO NOT DOUCHE! Seriously, as Shawna said your body will cleanse itself. Douching changes the Ph balance of your vagina AND if you douche after sex, all you are doing is flushing what's in there, out. Not the way to go about getting pregnant. Not douching will have no affect on your getting pregnant.

However, there is the theory that if you are trying to conceive a particular sex, that you use a specific kind of douche BEFORE having sex because of it changing the Ph levels. One kind will only allow the boy swimmers to survive and another allows only the girl swimmers to survive. But again, it's just a theory. And douching, especially too much, can actually be bad for you. I have an aunt who now gets chronic yeast infections from douching too much.

Candace, douching is a way of cleaning out your vaginal canal by flushing (generally vinegar and water) through it. A lot of women douche after AF just to help clean out and freshen up. Generally when you buy douche in the store you get what looks like the bottles that come with hair coloring but it has a long hard plastic tube that you screw onto the top. The tube has holes all through it and when you insert it into your vagina and squeeze the plastic bottle (it's really soft plastic so it's easy to squeeze) the mixture shoots out all over inside of you. Definitely something to do in the shower or on the toilet as it's very messy. LOL

wanted to agree with Michelle. Douching is bad for you under almost all circumstances for exactly the reasons she said.

Ahhh, gotcha. Since it's been that long, have you had any medical investigation yet? It might be time to get checked out to make sure you're both healthy. (Unless you've discontinued Depo Provera within the last 3 years. In that case...give yourself some more time.)

i have never been on depo.

i was on the pill for 6 months back in 2007.

i was on the pill from jan - july 2007.

that was the only time i had been on it my whole life.

i have vowed that im never going back on the pill again.

i hated it i had more problems while on it then not on it.

thanks for answering my question. im think that im not going to douche at all.

i think we are going to get pregnant cycle 24.

hubby does have low count though.

thanks ladies

I can't even imagine how frustrating it must be that you have been trying for so long! Is temping something that you have recently started? You don't have a ton of cycles on FF so IF charting is something you have only started doing for the past few months maybe you will get your BFP soon since you now have the knowledge of how to time intercourse properly! Good Luck!

p.s. don't douche it's old fashioned and yucky!

hi

i have been charting for the last few months.

i did notice that i ovulate at different times of the month.

one month was early in my cycle then the next month it was later in my cycle.

this month its going to be later for ovulation to this cycle since last cycle was early for ovulation.

i hope that i get my bfp soon.

thanks for answering.

I remember getting Toxic Shock Syndrome from using a tampon. When I went to the doc she told me that I need to be careful when I clean down there. She says I'm way TOO clean. She said that douching is NOT good. Our vagina's have their own way of cleansing itself out, like the rest has said. When we douche we're getting rid of NECCASSARY bacteria. Douching is just no good at all and it has NOTHING to do with getting pregnant or not getting pregnant.

I wouldn't worry about any of that at all.

I agree with the others. I have never douched before either and I think if anything it would hinder and not help your fertility.

I do use preseed though which is a sperm friendly lubricant. That might be something to consider.

I also agree on seeing the doctor. 22 cycles is a really long time to be ttc. I know it is hard to deal with that but you may just need a little help.
