I went to the doctor today to get a referral to a gynecologist because I'm worried there may be something wrong with me. Ever since my miscarriage in feb I've noticed that my cramps have been getting worse and lasting longer than they used to. I have almost constant cramping now and pretty much the only days when I have no cramping are the few right after af is done. There doesn't seem to be anything else wrong, there's no spotting besides when af is just finishing, af isn't really that different from what is was before my last pregnancy and miscarriage and I'm pretty sure I don't have an infection. Do any of you ladies have this problem? Do any of you know what it might be or even if it's actually a problem? The reason I'm asking you ladies is because I have no hope of actually getting in to see a gyno anytime soon. I live in a small town and we now only have 2 (the 3rd one left town sometime after feb) and they are both extremely busy according to my family doc.

I'm sorry you're going through this. I experience regular pain that is worse towards the end of my cycle and allows a few days of relief after AF leaves. It isn't something I would describe as cramping though. It's more like my pelvic region has been beaten with a baseball bat and during AF I can take 400mg of Motrin and still be near tears from the pain. My old OB suspected that I have endometriosis, but I haven't had a non-pregnancy/birth related appointment yet to talk to my new OB about the possibility.

Is yours anything like this or is it more like your standard cramps? Is it possible that not everything passed when you had your miscarriage? Have you had any trouble with fibroids or adhesions?

These cramps feel just like premenstrual cramps. I'm pretty sure everything was passed when I m/c and they did give me something afterward to flush out whatever was left. I never had a follow up ultrasound or exam though so maybe? But wouldn't there be other symptoms if that were the case? Like bleeding or spotting at unusual times in my cycle? As far as I know I've never had any other problems like fibroids or adhesions.

I'm really not sure what problems you could expect from remaining tissue. I know if it got infected you could expect to see yellow/green CM and a fever, but if it wasn't causing an infection... It'd be worth it to talk to your doctor though just to be on the safe side.

This is what I was going to bring up. One of my friends got pregnant and miscarried, never realizing she was pregnant to begin with. After months of being sick, having horrible pains with her AF, etc. she finally went to her doctor where they found that although the baby had died, it had not passed out of her body. She ended up needing a D&C to remove the baby and her lining. She's been fine since and that was probably 10 years ago.

It could be that you didn't pass everything or that your lining didn't ever shed completely. Even if you have to make an appointment out of town, it would be worth it to get checked out and make sure there are no remaining issues. Good luck to you, please keep us posted as to how you are doing.

I suppose I should have asked if he could refer me to someone in the city but I honestly don't know if there is any more availability there. My dh is probably going to see him on friday so I'll get him to ask, otherwise I suppose I'll just have to wait for this other office to call me. *sigh* I really hate having to go to separate doctors for everything. The entire time I lived in Vancouver I had the same doctor for everything (except when I needed a specialist for my molar pregnancy)

Wow. I would've thought if they hear miscarriage and constant cramping... I would've hoped they'd try to shuffle some things around.

I mean, how long of a wait are we talking here?

I have no idea. There's only 2 gyno's serving this town plus a community 30 mins away and at least 3 other towns within a half hour drive. It sucks and I'm kind of shocked that the 3rd one left town. Maybe I'll get lucky and they'll actually look at my history and get me in within a month or 2.

Wow, Patricia this is a bit scary. I would go back to your primary care dr and make it VERY clear that you are in a lot of pain and don't downplay it. If they refuse to refer you maybe you can go to the nearest ER and get it looked at. You definitely don't want to ignore it for any longer. Your body is telling you something is wrong.
