is it to read a test after the ten minute mark? I know the directions say not to, but do they really mean business?
I haven't been posting on this board lately, so sorry to just barge in, but since I know some of you ladies from when I was active before I trust you enough to ask
I gave up charting this month. I was on day infinity of my cycle and no signs of ovulating, so I got frustrated and gave up, planning on starting again in a cycle or two. About two weeks ago, I had a lot of EWCM, so I thought hey, let's BD and see what happens. The next morning, my temp was still 96.9. The day after that it was a little above 97. I thought, okay I didnt O then because my post o temps are above 97.5 So that was two weeks ago, and I've been feeling kind of funny so I thought what the hay, I'll take a test. There's a dollar store across from the Curves that I work out at so before my workout I bought a test. I really had to pee, so I just took it at the gym while I was getting dressed. I didnt stare at it for longer than a minute, long enough for the dye to get to the control line, and it didn't seem like the pregnancy line was going to show, so I just got into my workout clothes and went to work out. Someone knocked on the bathroom door, so I wasnt' going to sit there staring at a line that wouldn't appear.
So I did my half hour work out, came home, and was about to throw the test out (I wrapped it in the shopping bag- I didn't want to leave it in the gym) then I thought I'd look at it one last time, and THERE WAS A LINE. Not an evap line, a solid, pretty dark line. I am trying to remember how long it took for Jonah's test to come up +, but now I am thinking it took a few moments too. I'm heading out to Target in a few moments to get a digital test and two early response tests. I'm trying not to be excited because the scientist in me is saying I didn't do it right and the results are invalid, but I can't help but wonder how dark of a line would be there if it wasn't positive.
I'm also trying not to tell DH because I want to surprise him in a special way, so I'm going to sneak out the door with Jonah. We're "going shopping for shoes" because he outgrew them and we're having his portraits taken this week. Which is totally true
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Soooo, Daryl is probably wondering why Jonah got three pairs of shoes, a winter hat, a winter coat, some new puppets, and a bunch of other stuff. I shop when I'm nervous LOL. I didnt lie though, I DID get Jonah a new pair of shoes!
Oh, and I got two of the FRER digital tests, and three regular FRERs. I came home and sweetly asked Daryl to give Jonah dinner cuz I had to pee real badly (again, not a lie!) and I took one of the digis. and it said YES+!!!!!!!!!! BFP!!!!! I can't believe it! I totally gave up this month! I told my BFF that I was getting frustrated because I haven't ovulated yet, and here I am sitting here pregnant! Holy Mylanta! I just took a new job, and I hope they don't think I did this on purpose.... I totally quit trying. AGH! I'm so excited I want to jump up and down! (but I won't)
Thanks everyone for the tips on waiting to read a test. If it had been lighter, I would have just tossed it and not even blinked, but it was a good line. I took pics, but I can't post them because my grandpa looks at my photobucket account and he'll spill the beans.
The reason they give a time limit is because the way the test dries can affect the result. Some tests will show totally blank at 10 minutes, but when it's drier at 15 you'll see a faint line. On the flip side some tests will lose their lines or they may blur together. Since yours was dark it sounds good. I hope this is it! Good luck!
Oh, note on the digis, mine showed positive for over 24 hours so you can take your time in planning and not have to worry about those so much.
I was just about to ask the same question.
I have some internet cheapies that came free with my preseed. On the back they say that results will show in 5 minutes or under and not to read after 30 minutes, they say nothing about 10 minutes. So I took one this morning, 10DPO and there was no line in 5 minutes. I put it next to me while I was eating breakfast and looked at it again about 20 minutes later (25 minutes had passed since doing the test) and there is a line, its faint but its pink and definitely there.
Im trying not to get excited, and like you, the logical person in me says I should ignore it and retest tomorrow with FMU. But the baby wanting person in me is saying that its quite possibly an early BFP. I have a FRER and Im debating using it tomorrow morning, maybe you should pick up a FRER too?
You'll have to retest really. I get horrible evaps if I let my tests sit past 10 minutes. It doesn't happen to me all the time, but I've had it happen enough times that I throw them away after the time limit now. Good luck hun! It could be a positive, but you'll really only know for sure if you resest!
