This is a question about gearing up for ovulation, and then ovulation holding off for a few days.
So say you get a + on your little O predictor kit. In theory, O should happen a day or two later, right? When O is delayed several days after you get that +, how does your temperature reflect that? Does it only go up once you've ovulated? Or will it go up, and then you'll have an unknown ovulation afterwards?
Can your temperature go up and look a whole lot like you did O--complete with fertile mucus and raised libido--when you never did O?

From my understanding, the temp shift is due to the your body becoming progesterone dominant, which is AFTER ovulation... so I would think that if you see a temp shift followed by 3 sustained high temps... you can be pretty sure you O'd.
I could certainly be wrong... and if there are some girls here who have actual experiences that contradict that... then I will happily stand corrected.

I am wondering that same thing now- this is the case for me on my chart.
I have no idea.

Your temperature will only go up once ovulation has occurred. You need 3 high temps to confirm that.

No, it won't remain elevated if ovulation did not occur (unless you're developed a fever or something unrelated to fertility!)

Trying to think of all the possibilities. 25 DPO, temps UP, pregnancy test BFN, and can't get tested for another 3 days at earliest. This sucks. Maybe if I O'd later, that would explain everything.

Did you switch thermometers or temping time at some point this cycle?

No, same thermometer and waking time every day. Well, there may be all of two or three days I woke up 30 minutes early or late, but they were before O. I think one after O a couple weeks ago.

You have a very befuddling (like that word, lol) chart. Do you have any links to previous charts? That might help if you had other of your charts to compare this one too? I'm not sure with where you chart if you can go back to previous months or if you were charting before this cycle.

You know, some women just don't get accurate results with urine pregnancy tests (for whatever reason). I think it might be time to request a blood test from your doctor.

I like the word befuddled, too. =) I used to chart at FF, however not my temps. On the chart I have now, if you use the little bar at the top, you can scroll to a previous month. I love that feature. I only have two cycles on there. On FF, my ovulation would occur regularly between CD 21 and 29 (charted mucus and libido), and my cycles would normally be between 31 and 38 days. They never went past 38, and I usually had AF show up before day 32 was out. I charted 4 cycles on FF.

I was two weeks late when I called, so I guess. I O'd a lot earlier than normal this cycle, about a week early. They told me to wait till one period length after the last day in my longest cycle, if that makes sense. My periods run 5-6 days, longest cycle is 38 days. I'm on day 41 so I should wait 3-4 more days before the test. I don't know about doctor/nurse reasoning. I called several, they all basically said the same thing.
